NYX Satin Finish Black Liner Review, Swatches, Photos

The NYX Collection Noir is a selection of eight eyeliners in various formulas, finishes, and styles. The new NYX Satin Finish Black Liner featured in this collection brings me way back to my youth when my sister used to use some sort of red packaged black eyeliner (maybe it was by Maybelline…). I remember how she’d warm it up with a lighter, not something I’d suggest doing but seems so fitting for 80’s beauty.

Traditional pencils like this are somewhat a thing of a past now that we have an array of various formulas and retractable pencils on the market. It just seems like the old black eyeliner went through a heck of a revamp in recent years.

However, NYX Satin Finish Black Liner brings us back to days of old with a wicked little formula to line and define eyes!

This soft, velvety pencil is as simple as simple gets. No bells, no whistles, just a creamy black eye pencil that applies and blends easily.

This one glides onto the lash liner easily, wears on the waterline beautifully, and smudges out like a dream. I got a nice long wear from it on my waterline without a hiccup (I have drier eyes, oily eyes may see shorter wear time) and felt like the pencil applied oh so easily. I expected this to be hard and perhaps tug as it is a more traditional, standard pencil but nope, no problems, just as good as MAC Kohl Pencils and a mere $6 bucks to boot.

Likey!

Lots!

If you’re looking for a standard, everyday pencil to line eyes, this one is it. It doesn’t have a ton of features and promises but it gets the job done and done right and sometimes that’s all we need.

Wet and Wild with a lighter on the bus. Oh, memories. I’m amazed I’m still have both my eyes and no horrific burns.

i know exactly which red packaged black eyeliners you’re talking about haha…they were from maybelline. They were my very first eyeliner, when i was 15, and they were so hard I’d have to press them against a light bulb for a few seconds to warm them up……lol. Hot, melty eyeliner, and black smudgey lightbulbs….not my best idea 😉

Yay! MAC eye kohls cost around $32 here in Australia so I’m glad I can opt for this now.

My flatmate used to use a lighter on her eyeliner and I tried it a couple of times. If you didn’t time it right then it was too hot, but it certainly did stay put!
