Poppy King The Magic of Lipstick Boots No7 Lipstick & Lipgloss Review, Swatches, Photos
Poppy King, the Lipstick Queen, has launched a brand new collection for Boots No7 entitled the Magic of Lipstick. The best part about this collection is you can snag it at a bargain price at your local Target!
Take a look!
This collection features seven shades of Boots No7 Lipstick and seven shades of Boots No7 Lipgloss all for $9.99 each. Poppy’s Lipstick Queen Collection is considerably higher priced so this is affordable collection.
The interesting thing about the collection is it’s somewhat of a new take on lipstick for Poppy considering how loud and bold she likes her shades. Going into a purchase could prove disappointing since you might be expecting her incredibly pigmented lipstick formula in these No7 Lipsticks and sadly that’s not the case but needless to say they have a texture and formula equally as fabulous if you’re comfortable with a more sheer lippie.
I’d dub these a lip conditioner formula of sorts as they are highly moisturizing, have a nice glide on lips, and apply with a sheer to medium color pay off that builds easy enough. The glide of the lipstick is a joy as it doesn’t skip, apply sloppy, or leave behind too bold a look. The shade I tried, Intrigue, which is a nude reddish pink, enhanced the shade of my lips without looking to overly done. Drier lips will appreciate the hydrating formula here since some Lipstick Queen products are unforgivable with drier lips but this has no such issues.
Although the lipstick itself has a nice shiny gleam topping it with the No7 Lipgloss is the order of business to not only add a mirror-like finish but also to intensify the lipstick shade and give it a little bit of pop. Lucky enough each of the lipsticks features a shade of lipgloss in the same shade. This is a traditional gloss with a sponge tip applicator, a bit different for Poppy since her collection normally falls into the realms of 90% lipstick products and not gloss. I thought the formula had a lovely moisturizing feel but ran a bit thinner and lightweight sans a tacky, sticky feel. The lack of tack prevents it from wearing long but for the hour or two it is on lips it creates a nice finish and works lovely cocktailed with the matching lipstick.
Overall, The Magic of Lipstick Collection is a little bit different from anything Poppy’s done before but I can honestly say that both the lipstick and gloss proved to have very nice formulas with a few small quirks. I’ll happily haul these when I see them at my local Target as the price can’t be beat.
