Tarte Glossed Over PureOptic Lipgloss Collection Review, Swatches, Photos

So here is my very favorite Holiday Lipgloss Set of the season, the Tarte Glossed Over PureOptic Lipgloss Collection! This collection includes eight generously sized Tarte PureOptic Lipgloss and will be available exclusively from QVC for $29.

Loves!

Take a look.

You might recognize Tarte’s PureOptic Lipgloss from the QVC Exclusive Set, 8the World of Wonder. I believe the gloss was originally introduced in this set and now you can haul eight shades of it in this new gift set.

Personally this kit is kinda the equivalent to Stila’s traditional Holiday Lipglaze set or at least I get that vibe! If you love those Lipglazes and their packaging you’re sure to enjoy PureOptic Lipgloss.

Each of these features a click pen style packaging with a lip brush for application. Some folks are put off by this packaging but I personally enjoy the lip brush as it builds color easily, makes application a snap, and travels beautifully for touch ups on the go. It’s one reason I love Stila Lipglaze so much….the thinner tubes take next to no room in your makeup bag and can tuck these easily away in a small makeup drawer at home.

Green friendly makeup users will appreciate the more natural approach to the formula which lacks parabens and mineral oil as well.

The formula on these is a thinner gloss that builds easily however they do have a shorter wear time since they are so lightweight. No sticky, tacky feel here just a comfortable, lightweight gloss with a nice shiny finish and a hint of sparkle. The lack of tack definitely shortens the wear time so touch ups are nesscary to keep things fresh and beautiful. Each gloss has a fresh, minty taste which I personally find pleasant however if you’re a bit sensitive to scented or flavored lipglosses just a warning for you!

The colors arent terribly pigmented but many of them are lip enhancing shades so they give a nice MLBB experience (my lips but better). The variety of shades is somewhat limited as you’re looking at alot of rosier, berry, and warmer shades here (not many cool colors) but I don’t mind at all as I found almost all of them wearable and lovely…it’s kinda rare to find a set where you aren’t tossing out at least two or three shades because they simply aren’t “you”. In this case I thought all the shades were flattering!

Shades are not individuality named sadly and only reference colors on the outer box but not the packaging so it’s difficult for me to tell you which is which in my swatches without guessing!

Shades include:

  • Nectar
  • Nude
  • Pink Blush
  • Coral
  • Warm Pink
  • Nude Pink
  • Mauve
  • Berry

Overall, I thought the set was a very nice value. I like PureOptic Lipgloss because it has a very comfortable wear. The shorter lenght of the wear is a little disappointing but if you’re used to touching up your gloss throughout the day this probably won’t bother you too much.

The value, quality, and variety of warmer, rosier shades made this one a winner for me.

Muse Approved for purchase. I’d pick it up once it launches on QVC (expect it probably during next week’s Tarte premiere).

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. That’s a huge value. I had the one which was included in the first 8th wonder shipment and used it up in less than 2 months which is something I almost never do. It was my favorite gloss.

I don’t have a comment specific to these, but can I just say that I REALLY hope that Tarte soon comes out with an Amazonian Clay pressed powder?!?!
