Benefit Hervana Review, Swatches, Photos

So do you all haul Benefit Hervana yesterday? That was a great early Christmas pressie wasn’t it? I didn’t expect to see it until January or February so I was delighted when they told me it would be available as a pre-sale.

I ordered two of them yesterday for friends and I already had mine since last week but didn’t get a sec to review it, apologies.

Here are some of my thoughts on Hervana!

Visually this is probably the prettiest boxed powder from Benefit I own. Made of a kaleidoscope swirl of dusky pink, rose, purple, and cream, Hervana brings the pretty. Benefit describes it as a flush of orchid and that might be the case on the right skin tone however I feel like the powder will reflect differently on various tones.

Benefit took it so far as to name each individual shade in the palette, that’s a first for a blush that contains several shades eh? Divine peach is a dusky peach, Berry Delight is a pinky plum, Heavenly Rose is a soft, dusky rose, and Lucky Shell is a pale almost light pink beige. The powder is a satiny finish with very little shimmer or sparkle to it and any you might see in the mix will easily blend away for a soft, satiny sheen on cheeks and face so rather than looking all sparkly after application you’ll end up with more of a glow from within look which is quite pretty. The powder is silky, blends easily, and I find that the addition of Lucky Shell evens things out so you can build easily but not overdo your look thanks to the lighter beige shade which tones things down considerably. On my medium fair skin I get a flush of pink but as I mentioned above the colors will look different on various tones. For example, my sister is considerably darker than I am and the shade looks peachy pink on her face and cheeks.

I think the shade is pretty much different from any of the powders that Benefit has released in the past so you won’t end up with a dupe here should you indulge. The powder is scented so those sensitive to fragrance in their product just be warned. I personally like the smell as it’s a pleasant fresh, floral scent.

The color builds fairly easily but doesn’t come across as pigmented as past powders such as Bella Bamba and Coralista, this was is considerably more subtle compared to those. Benefit improved on their brush which is now slanted for easy application versus the flat square head of the brushes in past powder releases.

One thing I don’t love about the new packaging is the fact that the lid of the powder is not removable. It now has a mirror which is great but I do miss the fact that you could remove the entire lid in the past versus the fact that the lid is now hinged. For some reason I find it irritating since it doesn’t hold open as I apply and I keep flipping it back and out of the way versus the easy remove the top, set it aside as I apply method that my other powders have.

Overall, Hervana is a lovely little shade of blush. It’s gives cheeks a subtle, fresh slice of color that looks pretty and natural. Since Benefit has been on a roll with more pigmented shades of these boxed blushes I find that Hervana is a refreshingly little change and a perfect fresh looking blush for Spring.

Likey!

Alot!

Muse Approved for purchase.

Benefit Hervana will be available in January if you didn’t get a chance to purchase it during yesterday’s Flash Sale.

I agree about the new lids on Benefit’s powders. Everyone was so excited about them but I liked the old packaging better.

def Amber. I liked popping the top off and holding the blush as I applied, just was easier, Now it flips closed grrrr!

Does anybody like the new fliptop boxes? I don’t think so! I wish Benefit would bring back the old boxes.

It looks lovely on you! I have been curious about this blush since I got the email for it.

I passed on this during yesterday’s flash sale because I spent so much on Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales, but I definitely will pick it up later after reading your glowing review. It’s such a perfect spring shade!

I agree with everyone else about the boxes. It’s so annoying to have to stop and re-open the box every two seconds!

    • the Muse

andrea you have time for Spring chica ;-D so you can haul after the holidays.

      Yeah, sigh, that bugs me!

  • kiwikiwidragon

Agreed on the box top, they are also slimmer and have less product. Boo on the new packaging.

I bought it yesterday during the flash sale but I checked back on Benefit’s website and it’ll be available for purchase on the Dec. 14th which kind of made the flash sale completely pointless to me. Oh well, at least I was able to use my Sephora GC and get it for $20 shipped. =)

Thanks for the review, Muse! The color looks amazing on you!

i only own dandlion powder because of a sephora 500 point perk but i love using it as a higlighter so im excited to purchase my first benefit blush soon & i think this might be the one , its such a unique color!

love this. totally forgot to pick it up. 🙁
you know what i hate about the new packaging? sometimes when i go to close it in a hurry i end up digging the corners of the box into my powder.
seriously… nothing more annoying than that.

I got mine from sephora yesterday, I was seriously shocked at how small the new packaging is. :-/ I was tempted to return it but I applied it and it’s soooo lovely on my cheeks. I’m keeping it. haha.

  • Tracy

I love Coralista and I also have NARS Orgasm, but wanted something more subtle, soft and not coral. Hervana is perfect ! Love it !

  • Carrie

I know I am coming late to the party for this blush but I had to THANK YOU for convincing me to get it! I LOVE it! It’s soooo pretty on me!

I wanted to also to add that I have found this is really fantastic at helping to calm down the mild to moderate rosacea on my cheeks. I am rather fair and it’s hard for me to find a blush that does that without making me look like a clown. With this I just have a lovely, natural glow!

This has become my HG of blushes!

    • the Muse

yay that’s great news carrie ;-D so glad you love it!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂 Enjoy!!!!!!!

  • Eva

I tried it at my friend’s home once. It was darker than I thought, more like dark pink I think.

  • Avalith

I bought it but I realized it’s too sheer (I have to apply A LOT for it to show up) and it didn’t even last that long. I returned it and bought TheBalm blushes instead, which I love!
