Maybelline Master Shape Wax Brow Pencil

Maybelline extends the EyeStudio Collection to include a new Master Shape Wax Brow Pencil. I saw these at CVS for $8.49 in five shades. I don’t typically use brow pencils but this should be an interesting one to try for those who do use them.

I have this! It makes brows look really natural if you use both sides. I got mine in dark brown even though I have black hair. I love it so much. I think the only “negative” thing I could say about this is that it’s plastic, not a twist up,and you have to sharpen the plastic (which is a PITA).

  • L.Gross

I was wondering about the sharpening!! I thought it was a twist-up like the Master Drama pencils I have. I was like I know this can’t be all I get for $8+…?! Who’s grand idea was this to have to sharpen PLASTIC??? #weird

  • Teri I

I love the way it glides over the brow, and the brush really helps to make it look more natural. However, Maybelline really screwed up by not having the color twist up. Are you really supposed to sharpen the plastic tube????

  • Holman

Bought it along with a new Mabelline sharpner. Loved the pencil until it had to be sharpened. The plastic tube broke the sharpner. Ugggh! I plan on returning both and getting my money back. Doesn’t anyone test these before marketing them?

    • the Muse

couldn’t have said it better myself. recently tried the new physicians formula lipstick and felt the same way, doesn’t anyone test them before they market them?!

I was feeling stupid because I couldn’t figure out how to sharpen this product. So we really have to go online to figure this out? Love the product, but you can’t sharpen plastic. What a mess. Did Maybelline ever test this on real people?

  • Sally

Glad to see all these comments, I couldn’t figure it out either- bought 2 and will return both of them, BAD marketing!!

  • Cindy

Having the same problem as everyone else! Doesn’t twist up and can’t sharpen!! Are we missing something??

  • megan

i’m glad i’m not the only one with the sharpening problem, i bought a new one thinking maybe my first one just didn’t work.
sharpening plastic… really? it’s such a pain and never sharpens good!

    • Teri I.

I really like the waxy pencil and how this shapes my thin, blonde brows. But I really hope Mabelline see’s what a mistake they made with this packaging. Sharpening this sucker…Sucks :O/

I love this pencil for my brows because I color my hair a dark auburn and I have never seen another auburn eyebrow pencil. However, I’m not going to sharpen the plastic (who’s grand idea was that) and I refuse to spend $8 every time it runs low. Guess I’m still on the hunt for a good eyebrow pencil.

  • cindy

Same here. i’m going to return mine, and contact Maybelline….

  • Karen

Waste of money!!!!! I thought I was the only idiot who could not figure out how to sharpen it. Someone seriously needs to look into the making of this. Big disappointment.

  • Jz

I felt like such a moron…pulled both ends off trying to find a sharpener!!! i just sharpened it in my childs pencil sharpener-worked like a champ!

  • Sherry

This product is horrible. You have to sharpen it every time you use it. You can’t get a point on it. It’s very soft. And it’s very expensive. As soon as I am done here I’m going to find another brow pencil on this site.

    • Madison

Same here. It is way too expensive for it not to be a twist up. I got mines to sharpen but its not to a top where I can precisely draw on my eyebrows smh

  • Julie

This is, without a doubt, the WORST eyebrow pencil I’ve ever purchased. My brows are really sparse, so I needed a pencil to fill them in and am having a hard time finding any brand of Auburn pencil. This thing went on like a grease penci-just gross. And since I wear glasses, I need to “set” my brows when done with a little Clinique brow powder and light dusting of face powder, but since the pencil had a greasy quality, it just made a big mess. Wasted $8.79 on this at Walgreen’s. AAARRRGGGHH!

  • Connie

WOW! I’m not a idiot! I kept thinking “where the heck do I twist this up??! Love the product, but NOT user friendly. I don’t have time for the mess or to return this. MAYBELLENE sent me $$$vochures! Bought 2. Not happy

  • Carol

I was trying to read on the plastic tube where it told me to twist the dang thing! How studpid. Like the pencil but cannot believe this.

  • Stephanie Smith

I was SO mad because Finally I found a brow pencil I liked and there’s no sharpening it?!?
Oh no no. I put it in my 3$ sharpener and it worked!! Nice point and did not damage my sharpener.
I am super happy and will be buying this

  • Cindy

Is anyone ever going to do anything about this same problem everyone has?? Everyone likes it, but it needs to have automatic sharpening!!

  • Patti

I bought one of these and liked it, UNTIL I needed more pencil out! I couldn’t figure out how to make it work, took it back to CVS and they didn’t know, either! VERY disappointed, so got my money back. How can we contact Maybelline to tell them to fix it>
