Sleek Makeup The Berry Collection Review, Swatches, Photos

I admit that sometimes I get a little case of makeup burn out, hey, it happens to the best of us cosmetic junkies right? But damn I had a really fun time playing with the Sleek Makeup Berry Collection for Holiday 2011.

Imma tell you, it’s not the easiest makeup to pull off due to the vibrant, bold shades of berry but with a little patience you can create an outstanding look for the Holidays using this three piece set.

Take a look!

Sleek normally goes with a palette for the Holidays but this year they introduced a gift set that includes a trio of products for eyes, lips, and face.

Yes, I admit I was disappointed there would be no palette but after seeing photos, swatches, and finally getting my hands on their Berry Collection that disappointment soon faded. This is an outstanding selection of color for the Holidays as who doesn’t love a beautiful shade of red to spice up their look and make it more festive? You don’t have to settle for a single red here though as Sleek Makeup brings together three products for your lips, your cheeks, and your eyes in very festive shade!

This set comes with three full size products and is available for $15.99. Sadly, we do have to worry about airmail shipping costs so it does up the price slightly for US residents but at least Sleek takes the initiative to ship stateside so my suggestion is to gather a few friends in “real life” or from your fav makeup forum and do a group order to save on shipping costs!

You get:

  • Sleek Makeup Blush in Fenberry (a crimson shade of rose)
  • Sleek Makeup Kohl Pencil in Mossberry (a deep, rich shade of burgundy)
  • Sleek Makeup True Colour Lipstick in Cranberry (a rich wine shade)

Now this selection of products isn’t for everyone and will probably suit darker skin chicas the best but you can make it work if you use a lighter hand during application. If you happen to range in the NC40 and above group you’ll love how vibrant and bold these shades are and how flattering they will be on your darker or olive toned complexion.

For the fairer folk…

Just use a lighter touch during application however if you do have redness on your cheeks and/or face be careful with the blush.

I found the formula on the lipstick was a tad drying as hey, that’s matte lipstick for you but it has incredible pigmentation and with a little gloss on top you can work it hard. It wears very strong and very long but does dry lips out badly so gloss is definitely the key ticket here.

The blush is also matte and very, very pigmented. A little goes a long way here. I didn’t have issues with this one and it applied smoothly however be sure your working on a perfectly prepped face. In other words, if you have dry skin be sure to have a freshly moisturized face otherwise the blush will apply patchy. If you have oily skin be sure to mattify prior with primer or powder for the smoothest application.

The Kohl Pencil is gorgeous and works well to both line and shade eyes. In my case, I applied as a light shadow on my eyes below. It isn’t as creamy as I had hoped for so a little tugging is involved to get it into place correctly but I’ve honestly never seen such a unique shade in an eyeliner pencil before so I don’t mind the harder formula.

Overall, Sleek Makeup designed a very unique and festive collection for the holidays! I really enjoyed using this collection and I’m looking forward to experimenting further to see how much bolder I can go with both the blush and kohl pencil. It might lean towards being a bit too bold but it’s well worth taking a little time out and patience to apply as this one will create some very elegant holiday looks!

Loves it!

    STUNNING.

That lipstick looks incredible with your skin (which is infuriatingly flawless).

I think I must have this. I wasn’t a fan of berry or particularly dark lips until last week, when I accidentally picked up the wrong color or lip stain. I gave it a whirl, and now I’m in love!
