JuJu Cosmetics Aquamoist Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Cleansing Oil Review

I get constant questions about JuJu Cosmetics Aquamoist Collection as fans of Hadalabo are always curious if the Aquamoist Collection is as good.

Juju Cosmetics is a skincare line available in Japan made up of various skincare products that include Hyaluronic Acid in them to help retain moisture in the skin.

Let’s take a look at JuJu Cosmetics Aquamoist Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Cleansing Oil.

Of course, the main appeal of the Aquamoist Collection and this particular cleansing oil is the Hyaluronic Acid in the mix. Hyaluronic Acid has the ability to hold and seal moisture in. It’s a very good ingredient to include in any skincare product as far as I’m concerned as it helps hydrate your skin and to keep that moisture sealed in.

I generally like a few of the Aquamoist products but I do not like this cleansing oil. If you’ve never used a cleansing oil before it’s a very simple and effective way to remove makeup and can be used on any skin type. Simply squirt the oil into your hands and apply it to a dry face full of makeup. Add a little water and the oil with emulsify and become milky, massage a bit and proceed to rinse. Done! Cleansing oil does a very good job of removing even the most difficult of makeup from your face.

This cleansing oil has a terrible rubbery, almost fishy scent. It starts off citrus-like but it goes a bit metallic, rubbery, and ends up on a fishy note which isn’t terribly pleasant. On top of the terrible smell it also dries my skin out in a major way….I’m talking dry, patchy areas of skin on my cheeks and forehead. If my skin is already feeling a tad tight this will make it feel even tighter and added flaky areas to the mix of things.

I do consider it shocking that something that contains Hyaluronic Acid is this drying on my skin.

Overall, JuJu Cosmetics Aquamoist Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Cleansing Oil is sadly not the cleansing oil for my skin. It does get a good deal of raves but do beware if you’re inclined to try it and have drier skin.

You can purchase it at Sasa.com.

Yikes! That sounds horrible. My only experience with Japanese skincare has been with DHC, and I loved their cleansing oil, it made my skin glow and there was no horrible smell like you experienced with this one.

Since it’s drying, I wonder how low on the ingredient list HA is? Or if it’s even useful to have that ingredient in a cleanser?

Ouch, no wonder I glossed over this while perusing on Sasa today.

It would be wonderful if you could review more of the Juju Cosmetics and Hada Labo hyaluronic acid skincare items; Bubz Beauty did a video on her skincare that included a few Juju items and Xiaxue did an advertorial recently on Hadalabo.

Personally, I’ve never really been tempted by cleansing oils. I use baby wipes to remove my makeup and it does the trick very well. I also don’t use anything waterproof.

I think I know what went wrong as far as drying out your skin. What you probably should have done is spritz your face allover with water before using the cleansing oil. Here’s why:

Due to hyaluronic acid’s ability to draw in water 1000 times its weight, it can actually draw water right out of your skin, which will cause dryness. To prevent this is, apply hyaluronic acid products on damp skin (even better if it’s in a humid environment).

In addition, be sure the hyaluronic acid-containing product has an additional ingredient that serves as a moisture barrier to form a seal against water loss. That’s why a lot of moisturizers with hyaluronic acid have something like dimethicone to form such a barrier–these sorts of moisturizers work best when applied on wet skin.

Unfortunately, hyaluronic acid may draw water OUT of your skin no matter what you do–especially if you’re in a dry environment. It just doesn’t work for some people.

I was just wondering…have you tried the super popular Hada Labo SHA Moisturizing Lotion from Japan? I hear it’s great and I’ve been thinking about getting some. I wonder if it’s better than the Hadanomy face lotion in the pink bottle- I like that one a lot! 🙂

hey alizalovescherry 🙂 I actually own almost everything from the Hada Labo Collection 😉 it really is great!

Cow Brand Mutenka cleansing oil is the best. It is coconut oil based, fragrance, preservative, and color free. The only cleansing oil I buy.

aww I have been using this product for almost a year now and never had issues, and it never smelled bad to me… I love this whole line though maybe I should switch to Hado Labo when I’m done.

So I was scouring the internet for reviews on this product and Haruhada hyaluronic cleansing water and did not check your blog first because I was thinking you probably won’t have access to them and thus won’t have them. I have been MAJORLY SCHOOLED! You are just beyond amazing!!!!!! And I do check your blog before I buy any makeup! I swear! Much love, xxx

I didn’t like this product either. It removed probably, half my make up, and like you said, it smelt so dodgy. I wished I read your review before buying it 🙁
