Maybelline Illegal Length Mascara Review

Fiber mascara aka OMG I HAVE SOMETHING IN MY EYE GET IT OUT! is not my favorite mascara of choice.

I don’t do so well with fiber mascaras. Anytime I used them I always felt like I had a lash stuck up under my upper waterline and I go through the day absolutely miserable trying hard not to scratch an eyeball out trying to get to that imaginary hair.

Well, needless to say Maybelline Illegal Length Mascara was on my DO NOT WANT list of mascaras. This is a fiber extension mascara so it extends lashes using tiny little fibers.

Not good.

But I gave it a whirl and…

I love it.

Gulp.

I said it.

I love Maybelline Illegal Length mascara. Someone might want to get a notary here so I can sigh a document stating I actually, technically wrote those words out loud because 1. it’s rare I admit to liking drugstore mascara (I haven’t found many to rave) and 2. fiber mascaras is devil made sent to torture poor, defenseless souls like myself. Dean and Sam go to battle with fiber making mascara demons daily…seriously, true story.

Here’s all you need to know, it works.

No seriously, there’s alot more to say but the thing is it’s difficult to find mascara that just works out of the package. I always feel like I need a heavy equipment license to operate mascara. This just works out of the package, swipe it on, done, longer, fuller lashes.

The brush is a straight line with bushy bristles, no plastic applicator here! The brush seems handy enough for pulling lashes up and out and surprisingly does well with curl as well. As I pull my lashes out with the brush it twists up nicely to curl the lashes upward.

The fibers extend lashes for visible results so my lashes look longer instantly after a single application. The mascara does a good job with volume as well which is saying something considering many mascaras promise volume and lenght but end up being a one trick pony and only good at one thing.

My first try with this I did indeed have problems with the fibers. I felt like a lash was stuck in my left eye and it just bugged me all day. After three more uses with this I haven’t had a hiccup since. I also had no issues with fibers flaking off on my eyes and cheeks, etc…the mascara wore well all day and removed easily in the evening with simple lukewarm water.

It’s not there yet but I’m thinking that Maybelline Illegal Length could join the ranks of my HG (holy grail) product list. This is one of the better mascaras I’ve tried at the drugstore. It performed beautifully well and did indeed bring not only good lenght to my lashes but gave them a fuller appearance.
