NARS Makeup Removing Water Review

Come on out lazy girls! You know you’re out there. Sleeping in your makeup, too lazy when you get home to remove it, for shame! Your mum’s should know what you’ve been up too. Insert waggling finger here.

Goodie for you that cleansing waters are on trend at the moment and everyone and their mother too is introducing one. MAC has one, Sephora, and on the higher end of the playing field, the new NARS Makeup Removing Water. That sounds so pro right? It’s not NARS Cleansing Water its NARS Makeup Removing Water. Posh!

This soap-free, oil-free, and alcohol-free water promises removes face makeup and tones the skin. Thank you NARS for not promising to remove our waterproof mascara. Bless your heart. Nothing is more annoying than a brand of cleansing water that promises to be your end all to removing makeup.

Jump!

As I explained in my MAC Cleansing Water Review these aren’t something you want to embrace for daily use particularly if you’re heavy on the waterproof mascara and eye makeup. However, if you’re so damn tired when you get home and you simply can’t be arsed to follow through on a makeup removal regime that includes at least three products, well, cleansing waters are your new BFF. Simply saturate some facial cotton or a cotton square or ball and swipe it across your face.

The NARS formula is gentle enough to remove facial makeup easily and minor eye makeup and doesn’t strip, dry out, or make skin feel tight or tacky after use. Soothing botanical ingredients hydrate and tone your skin.

I think minimal makeup users can embrace this as a daily cleanser but if you’re wearing a good deal of eye makeup daily this probably will be best suited for super quick clean ups when you’re tired but not for removing all your makeup easily.

And hey kid, you got options here as NARS version is twice as big at $28 compared to MAC’s which is half the size at $23. So don’t feel guilty indulging.

I just… don’t understand the $30 “mineral infused” (psh) water bottles they are marketing as facial cleansers these days. Am I crazy? I feel like I would get the same result if I ran a cotton pad under my faucet and then used that to remove my make up. These products just aren’t for me I suppose 🙂

mmmm not exactly the same results chelsea lol! but yeah I understand, it seems like a hefty price for a cleansing water ;D!

Muse, thanks to you I wound up on the Imomoko site. If it weren’t for you, I would have never found that on my own. Needless to say, the site can be a little overwhelming for a newcomer but OMG! is it full of good stuff. I ordered the Caudalie cleansing water and it rocks! I have dry skin AND live in AZ so I really have to pay attention to products. The Caudalie removes everything I put on. However, I don’t use waterproof mascara or liquid foundation. But I do use primers, eyeliner, powder, BB creams…you name it. I don’t use cleansing water every time to take my makeoff off, usually when I have one glass of wine too much and just can’t do my routine. And it’s only $14 on Imomoko so I highly recommend it…..especially over prices such as NARS.

Hmmm, I think I’ll stick to my Mandom Cleansing Express water (it retails for a hecka lot cheaper than Nars, plus we don’t get Nars in Asia). Mandom cleans off eye makeup pretty well.

But when I’m lazy, I reach for the makeup towlettes I can get for $3 at Big Lots! And they seem to do well on eye makeup and waterproof liners, though who knows about waterproof mascara, I use washable.

Hi Muse, I’d love to hear your thoughts comparing the various cleansing waters out there! I’ve repeatedly purchased the Mandom cleansing water, which is inexpensive and gets the job done. I know Bioderm doesn’t sting the eyes unlike Mandom so that’s good, but what are other differences that make one brand like NARS, MAC, Koh Gen Do, etc. better than the other?

  • Bailey

I like to use the waters (micellear, cleansing, toning… whatever) before my clarisonic. They get the bulk of the “gunk” off so my cleanser can get to my skin (and not have to fight makeup!) But, yeah, they are awesome for lazy nights or a fast morning freshening up.

The best makeup removing water that I know and that I use daily is Bioderma Sensibio. It’s simply amazing. It’s not spectacular on waterproof heavy eye make-up because you have to insist a little (use a couple more pads), but it certainly works wonders.

I’m curious about the NARS one though. I have their eye make-up remover, and I love it.

Mandom Cleansing Waters are the holy grail and WAY cheaper even with imported prices. I’ve been using them a year and have not looked back to cleansing oils. I mean I loved my Cow Brand Mutenka, but Mandom is teh the sh*t
@peach_; which one burned your eyes? I have used the Sebum and Bright Up versions and they don’t sting.

hmmm. seems alright I guess but nothing can beat bioderma! forever my favorite for lazy days.
