Physicians Formula pH Matchmaker pH Powered Lipgloss Review, Swatches, Photos

So far Physicians Formula pH Matchmaker Collection is turning into a big yay for me. I liked the blush alot so I paired it up this morning with the new pH Matchmaker pH Powdered Lipgloss.

Likey!

I’m going to throw it out there and say hell, pick these up, they are fabulous. I like these alot. The packaging, the formula, the colors, it’s just overall a really great gloss. Not loving the jacked up price at CVS of $12.95…owww! But don’t mind paying $9.99 for one at Ulta and getting the second for $5 bucks. That works.

These are a chunky square tube that features a handy mirror right smack on the side of the gloss and a little switch on the top that will light up the upper part of the wand in case you wanna apply in a dark club, a graveyard when you’re slaying vampires at midnight, or god forbid the zombie plague might hit and at some point we could lose power! I’m not sure I absolutely need a lit lipgloss wand but hey, props for awesome packaging, I appreciate the extras!

The gloss comes in two shades, Light Pink and Pink. The formula supposedly turns into a “you shade” of pink within sixty seconds of application. Custom shades of pink lipgloss are always a tricky topic for me but overall I will say that both the Light and the regular Pink are both very flattering shades on me. But some might feel the regular Pink is a bit bright (I have it on below) and a little too much so you might want to head into a Light Pink purchase which is a bit more subtle and gives lips more of a rosy pink rather than a full on bubblegum fuchsia pink finish! As for me, I loved ’em both! Pink reminds me of Smashbox O-Gloss but the formula is a good deal nicer in my humblest.

The applicator is a bit short on these but I think it builds the gloss very nicely plus it doesn’t split when I place it back in the tube so I’m golden with it. The formula isn’t too tacky or sticky and has a nice enough wear without feeling heavy, thick, or uncomfortable. I can get about three to four hours of wear and once the gloss wears away it stains my lips a lovely shade of pink for a few more hours after. They have a good deal of shine to them as well.

(Swatched above: Light Pink and Pink)

Overall, I like ’em. If you already own and love Smashbox O-Gloss you’ll enjoy the color of Pink and if you want to go a bit more subtle you’ll enjoy Light Pink. The formula proves comfortable to wear, the shine is very nice, and the color gives my face a brighter more youthful glow particularly when I pair it up with a bright shade of pink blush like I did in my FOTD photo in this post.

I recommend checking them out. I think you’ll like them as much as I did.

P.S. The swatches do NOT do the gloss shades justice!

Muse Approved for purchase.

It looks really lovely on you Muse! Gah, I am not really sure if I could pick these up since I have pigmented lips.

Oh my goodness this review made me laugh so hard!! The part about needing to apply your lip gloss in a grave yard or a zombie invasion was hilarious! I think I need to try this gloss along with the blush, they look great!

  • cat

I got a teeth-whitening product from my dentist that has the light and the mirror so I feel like that must be common packaging somewhere. Anyway, I’m not much for lipgloss but that color does look very pretty on you. 🙂

  • Kat

Emm you might want to change the typo in your title. I was so confused when I saw “pH Powdered Lipgloss”, trying to imaging a lipgloss that is powdered, then I saw the packaging saying “pH powered” and I was like oh. 🙂

  • Seaira

Wow, they look really wonderful! I think I’m going to have to snag the light pink one and give it a try. I could always use a new lip gloss, ha ha.

  • Fey

OW! Hot stuff! (The gloss and you, too.) I love how luxe this packaging is. That is one vibrant pink! I love temperature sensitive (or pH) glosses because when it’s cooler, I’m more in the mood for a paler shade. These look magnificent. Thanks for the review. 🙂

    • the Muse

ha thanks fey ;-D thanks so much for your lovely comment/compliment! you’re most welcome, glad you enjoyed it!

  • Nadia

hey!, what do these glosses taste like? Any flavor?
For some reason I loved the o-plump cuz of the minty flavor, but o-gloss didnt excite me because it was plain hahaha.

    • the Muse

no flavor nadia 🙂 no mint, no fruit, nada! totes know how you feel I love flavor in my gloss too!

  • Christina

You know what, I do not own a lipgloss that has its own light source…I might have to check either one of them out soon. 🙂

  • Sara

Im loving the look of these, and just might have to run out to Ulta and see if they have them (good thing there are 2 nearby!), Have you seen them any where else??

    • the Muse

no where :-/ been searching but just ulta.com so I grabbed during the BOGO I posted about last week 🙂

    • Ruth

I’m in Maryland but at CVS they’re running BOGO on their products this week.

  • Sarah S.

Ooooh! I haven’t seen these at my stores yet, but hey $9.99 isn’t too bad for three gimmicks in one, LOL

  • Cj

I wish I would of gotten these during the bogo! Come on a light up wand how cool is that lol. Finally a product that my inner geek and makeup…teer both want! I’m gonna swing by Ulta today and see if they have these and the blushes 🙂

  • Blair

Oh my God, it lights up? You’re right, it’s not really that useful but it does make it look really cool! 🙂

  • butterdaisy

Hmmmm, a berry one would be great. I’m not a fan of pink at all. Very cool product though.

  • butterdaisy

Muse I follow you on Pulse now! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!! I can get my “fix” without having to go into my email. Your site rocks! It’s the only beauty site I check on a daily basis(even through Pulse) and I wish I had found it many moons ago.

I guess these really do adjust to different colors on different people! I picked one up at Walmart yesterday (the Pink shade), and it looked nice for about ten seconds, then it looked like I’d colored in my lips with a pink highlighter! It looks so pretty on you; I wish it had turned the same color on me V__V
