Physicians Formula Youthful Wear Cosmeceutical Youth Boosting Mattifying Face Powder 1

Well slap me happy! I’m super pleased with the new Physicians Formula Youthful Wear Cosmeceutical Youth Boosting Powder (say that three times fast). This isn’t a surprise considering the long term loving relationship I have with their pressed mosaic powder!

Take a look!

Physicians Formula Youthful Wear Collection is a new range of assorted base products including concealer and cream foundation to shave 10 years off your face or at least that’s the promise. 10 Years, instantly…or so the box says. Dunno if I’m looking that good after use but I will say it’s my HG (holy grail) powder of choice at the moment.

I love this stuff.

The powder has a scent and it took me a hot second to figure out what that fragrance was and I’ve finally come to realize it reminds me of my beloved Lush Snowcake! Those sensitive to fragrance in their facial powders just a note, the scent is subtle but it is there.

This comes in the traditional Physicians Formula packaging in a new purple casing with the powder on top and a mirror and small well for the brush on the bottom. Oh the brush…did I tell you about the brilliant brush? I think maybe the brush is what really makes the powder pretty special. It’s not really a brush I guess but merely a short bristled pick of sorts. Anytime I use it I feel like I’m shaving my face ha…but somehow, someway the brush really works a treat at smoothing the powder on and giving a perfectly flawless airbrushed appearance. I also felt like the brush didn’t pile product on so you aren’t left with a ton of powder but just a simple enough dusting that evens out skin tone, mattifies skin, and creates a near perfect canvas for makeup.

The powder is transparent but it still has a knack for working great as a base product of sorts. On bare skin it perfects the area, evens out skin tone, and creates a nice working canvas for color cosmetics. Over foundation it extends the wear time of your base and mattifies your skin. Dry skin girls don’t be shy about using this as I am super dry and this didn’t accentuate those areas of my face and had a smooth, even appearance without making my patchy, dry areas look worst. I was astounded how well this wore on my dry skin.

It does promise 12 hours of wear and I wouldn’t say I got that from it but I did get at least six hours in without a touch up worn on bare skin and about seven hours wearing it over a BB Cream so that’s a rather good wear for powder in my opinion.

Overall, I really loved this and must Muse Approve it for purchase. Although a simple translucent powder it felt like I spent $50 on this rather than $13.95. The brush seems to be part of the trick here as well since it allows the product to build easily on your face without ever over doing it plus the powder is super breathable and natural looking.

It’s just a winner.

Loved it.

Thanks for the review, Muse! It sounds promising! Have you tried the other new powder, the one w/the ripples in it? Wondering how they compare.

Nice brush, PF! This looks like a great purchase. I’ve been looking for a mattifying powder for awhile on the cheaper side.

Great review! I might have to give it a try, I haven’t had much luck with PH powder in the past. But this looks fantastic, I love the look of that brush. Reminds me of their airbrush kabuki which is fabulous! Those bristles ars so soft and dense.

Yay finally something I have :D I picked this up during the bogo, isn’t the brush crazy lol? I’ve never seen anything like it before. The foundation in the line isn’t half bad either.

Btw you got me into looking for a bb cream yesterday and I found out skin79 has a new super plus triple one in an orange can! It’s apparently really good and not grey toned like the others, So I’m like super lemming it right now lol. Made me forget all about the le mertier thing :P

PH is so hard for me to find a color that works for me. but thank goodness they offer a translusent.

I wonder if this is replacing the Covertox10? I have one in my stash and really liked it.

        Hey!
I am great just busy, lol. I know you can relate. I am loving all the new reviews I almost can’t keep up haha.

It is not overly shimmery at all. I don’t like looking like a disco ball so I was worried about using as a setting powder but it’s fab! Just a soft glow.
I inspected it very closely in the sunlight and it has tiny, tiny sparkles.
Someone on MUA compared it to Fresh face lustre.

The foundation has been compared to LM silk creme. It’s a pretty full coverage but doesn’t look heavy. I like!

I saw this at the store and was on the fence about trying it since I still have the mosaic powder by them. I actually might have to go back and get it.

Do you think that it would work on darker skin tones? I know you said it was translucent but it seems a little light on the the swatch

it’ll look good on light, medium fair, medium skin. On tan and olive skin tones it might go a bit ashy hun.

This sounds promising! I have to find some reviews by people with oily skin because powders that might work for those with dry skin, may not work so well for oily skin. However, I am more willing to take a risk on a $13 powder than a $40-ish one.

If this took 10 years off of me I’d look 13…not exactly the look I’m going for these days ;) haha. I definitely have to try this out though….I almost always hate drugstore powders, but I have dry, flaky, peely skin and this sounds like it could be a winner for me.

LOL cait ;-D I have dry cheeks too and this didn’t look bad AT all particularly since many powders make those areas look downright gross!

I really want to try this now! I’m already going to get the concealer next week at CVS (if you spend $10 on PH stuff you get $7 extrabucks back) but the limit is one, so I need another PH sale! Thanks for the review btw, I was thinking about trying this but I always feel so much safer after you review thiings :)

Wanted to love this, but returned it immediately because it made me orange :-(

What’s funny is that I fell in love with the one that YOU thought was orange (the blue casing with the rippled surfaced) … gives me an airbrushed finish and doesn’t turn my fair skin orange :-)

Hello jolie Muse, Have you tried Model in a Bottle? Also, does this lovely powder list mineral oil in the ingredients? I have noticed that most Phys. Form. cosmetics use this and it makes my combo skin break out. Please advise. I have to log on to your site daily because I don’t get your emails anymore. :(

Oh…how I wanted to love this so, but for some reason it made my skin ITCH like none other! I’m a powder foundation girl, and I’ve never had that happen before. I decided to exchange it for the new mineral air brushed powder which is working for me and while I wouldn’t call it orange, it definitely would be better for those with yellow/asian undertones.

Bought all three products & I’m totally not impressed with any of it. The base is tough to work with feels very thick, the powder is alright, but 10 years younger? Come on, get real! The under eye cover is just an average product. I have to stop buying everything that states “look younger”! Seriously, just false advertising.
