PixiGlow Fairy Face Palette Review, Swatches, Photos
I admit if makeup is pretty or cute, it proves far more appealing to me. I put a great deal of importance on packaging and I feel every so inclined to make a purchase if the packaging proves gorgeous.
Shallow much? Maybe but most makeup junkies can’t deny that packaging seals the deal.
The new Pixi Glow Collection is a Spring Collection that Pixi collaborated with Disney on. The packaging features the most famous pixie of all, Tinkerbell herself. For the packaging details Pixi worked with a Disney artist and the re-imagined version created of Tinkerbell is rather amazing. They took Tink from the realms of cute to a rather lovely sophisticated elegance and that re-imagined image of her decorates the new limited edition Pixi Glow Fairy Face Palette.
Take a look!
I personally don’t mind cuter makeup pieces. I’m the type of woman that never truly grew up so whipping out a Hello Kitty Palette or mirror is just so very me. My quirky, fun personality is very fitting for such makeup pieces.
But not everyone is like me…so I do think that the Pixi Glow Collection will appeal to those with more mature tastes in makeup as well as those of who just love fun pieces of makeup.
The Fairy Face Palette is $34 and features products for lips, face, and cheeks. The palette is the traditional Pixi shade of pale green and features the Tink on the cover. Open it up to reveal a full face mirror with a twining vine and a small shadow of Tink on it.
The product has two layers the first of which contains five eyeshadows, five lip creams, and applicators. The lip and eye trays split open to reveal a highlighter for cheeks and brush in a compartment below. I’m not really keen on having cream and powder in one palette as things can get messy pretty quickly. On the upside they have the creams in their own tray and are pretty far off from the powders so this keeps things a bit more organized.
My favorite part of the palette is without a doubt the eyeshadows. I was a little worried they’d be frosty but thankfully they have a nice bit of sparkle with a bit of a metallic gleam. They remind me of the loosely packed, flaky eyeshadows that I loved so dearly from the Cargo Metallico Palette I reviewed a few months ago. These have a nice bit of pigment, build easily, and blend smoothly with no fall out issues. The texture of the shadows reminds me of a pressed loose pigment. These have a bit of a flaky texture but have a smooth almost cream-like feel when applied. I think the shade selection is delightful and each of the colors flow and contrast together beautifully without a hiccup or work easily alone. You get a soft cream, a light champagne beige, a dusky rosy peach, a light bronze chocolate, and a deep, rich chocolate. For my eye looks below I used the softer brown shade in one look and the dusky rose in another.
The lip creams have a dense texture but the brush glides easily through the color and applies smoothly on lips. They have a nice pop of pigment and some of the darker shades produce a nice enhanced lip look without looking overly done. I’m not a big fan of lip creams but these are surprisingly nice if you give them a chance.
I admit I was disappointed I couldn’t use the mosaic highlighter as a blusher. It’s a gorgeous graduation of dusky and vibrant shades of pink and rose but sadly it acts as a highlighter to give cheeks a nice bit of glow but not alot of pigment. If you’re considerably fairer than I am you’ll probably see a nice bit of color from it but medium fair and up probably will only see a soft focus glow that can get a bit sparkly if over done but thankfully not frosty. I’m wearing it over a hint of cheek stain in my looks below.
Overall, the Pixi Glow Fairy Face Palette is made up of some delightful Spring shades. Not only is the packaging simply darling but the contents inside prove just as wonderful. I was quite ecstatic about testing this out but I was a little worried the shades would be frostt and I’m ever so happy they turned out so well.
This one deserves a Muse Approval.
