Smashbox Photo Set Pressed Powder Review, Swatches, Photos

Smashbox introduced Photo Pressed Powder a little bit ago so I’m a late reviewing this one. It’s been sitting in my review pile for far too long but it left so little an impression on me I was a bit lazy about getting a post up about it.

Smashbox makes it sound appealing enough marketing it as lightweight coverage with a fine, creamy formula that has a flawless finish.

But…it’s pretty disappointing.

Take a look!

This one comes in a slick yet simple black case with a think square sponge applicator. The powder itself is infused with micronized pigments for diffusing the look of skin flaws or finer lines and giving your skin a smoother, fresher appearance.

For me the main problem with the powder is the drier texture. I was hopeful it could be used as light coverage on a prepped face sans a foundation but sadly the dry texture yields very little color pay off so the hopes of evening out my skin tone and giving a soft flawless look was a hopeless case. I didn’t give up on it though and decided perhaps it would make a better finishing powder but again, sadly it just had too dry a texture to work with and it left me with patchy powder. The powder just proves to dry to blend the color out well enough for a more natural look.

To add insult to injury it also made dry patches look terrible and more prominent. Granted, powder on drier skin is a big no to begin with but the “creamy” texture had sold me that this would have a smoother, softer finish but sadly that wasn’t the case and it accentuated drier areas rather than smoothing naturally over them.

(Shade swatched above “Light”)

Overall, Smashbox Photo Set Pressed Powder proved a fail for me. As I mentioned above, powder on drier skin is typically a difficult application process over all but this powder was terribly dry which resulted in patchy application and very little pigment for it to act as a lighter foundation or even a finishing powder.

Disappointing.

Don’t waste your money on this one!

Oh no Muse! I love this powder! However, I do lean on the very oily side and the Fair shade actually works for my skintone! Stinks it didn’t work out for you though! <3

I have to agree with you on this (and I have combo/oily skin). I hated this product and thought it was a total waste of money. Drugstore pressed powder is better than this, and much cheaper.
