Too Faced Natural Kiss Palette Review, Swatches, Photos

I don’t like lip palettes.

Not only are they gross but, I dunno, I just like applying my lipstick and gloss from a tube with an applicator, etc…I’m a traditionalist. Lip palettes get mighty messy plus they are a breeding ground for bacteria.

Bobbi Brown has somewhat changed my mind on lip palettes, almost, kinda, sorta….

But I admit I indulged in the new Too Faced Natural Kiss Neutral Lip Color Collection. I just had to have it. It went so well with their box eyeshadow set plus the shades looked delightful along side my Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette. Gasp! Is it sacrilegious to wear Urban Decay on my eyes and Too Faced on my lips? I always think of them as complete rivals, kinda celebrity smack down style thing going on between the two brands…in this corner we have Urban Decay in this corner we have Too Faced Cosmetics…BATTLE ON!

Jump!

Outside of some of their palettes I don’t think that Too Faced has every done a lip palette before that I can recall so this is a first for them. You have give them props as they did introduce a new Natural At Night Sexy & Sultry Neutral Eye Shadow Collection but decided against including these lip colors in the mix. I personally don’t love poorly design palettes that include creams and powders in one place. It’s a mess! So I appreciate that I can purchase these separately, away from the eyeshadow palettes, housed safely in their own little compact. Of course, this means I have to dish out extra $$$ to own them but I can completely get on board with that so long as it means I avoid big old nasty messes of powders and creams together in a very small place.

I generally like lip colors like this which is one reason I purchased it but I can’t really justify the purchase since the colors don’t really stand out as something unique, different, or special. $24 may seem a little much to indulge particularly if 1. you’re not a fan of lip palettes and 2. you have alot of these colors already.

Outside of the colors being a little uneventful I actually like the palette on a whole. It’s small enough to travel with for a quickie touch ups, has a very nice sized mirror inside, and includes a generously sized lip brush that makes application a snap. The brush is soft and large enough that color glides on effortlessly. Some lip brushes are super hard, pointed (why?!), and just so tiny that you are dipping and re-dipping into the pan to get enough color onto your lips. This brush I had no such issues with!

The palette is made up of a single Lip Shimmer, a Lipgloss, and two Lip Cremes. They designed the palette shades to compliment their new eye palette and the Natural Eye Shadow Collection and indeed, they do just that. The two lip colors are dusky shades of peach and rose with complimentary shades of beige shimmer and a beige rose lipgloss. I think the gloss and shimmer add dimension to the look when you use either one or two of the lip creams together. I think the lovely part of the palette is everything mixes and matches nicely to create a few different nude looks.

Formula wise I wasn’t too impressed. The lip creams are pretty dense but this is the case with most lip palettes I tried. Somehow, someway lipstick loses its moisturizing properties when they pour it into a well, I swear, totally a true story. The glosses are nice enough but I think overall, the formula on everything felt very drying. The lip creams did have excellent pigmentation and the glosses are much more subtle with a shimmery finish.

It’s not the best lip palette I’ve tried but I’m glad to have it as I think it makes up some pretty nice looks to go along with my boxed shadow sets from Too Faced. You don’t necessarily need to run out and purchase it that much is true but it’s a “nice to have” palette if you want a matchy-matchy look to go along with nude and natural shades of eyeshadow.

Chalk this one up to personal taste..some folks might be inclined to indulge and others will feel like its a total miss.

Haha Muse, I’ve always felt the same way about Laura Mercier and Bobbi Brown… Don’t know why though…

Pretty colours but if they are drying this is not for me… Particularly in winter. T.T

I have this and I acually really like it. The colors are nice and look good even on my cool light skin tone, THey are a little drying but lip color in general seem to be like that for me.
