MAC Mineralize Conealer Review & Swatches
Ahh MAC Mineralize Concealer, I’ve been waiting for you my entire MAC life. You’re so hydrating!
I’ve tried many a MAC concealer but I must say they are all really, really dry and/or drying under my eyes. I don’t think MAC really set out to create concealers for those of us with dry skin. What’s your experience been like with MAC concealers? Funny, as they have really good coverage but when it comes down to being moisturizing they simply don’t cut it.
Until now, their new Mineralize Conealer is incredibly hydrating. They did well with this one but….
It needs work.
Props MAC for finally getting a formula down that has a hydrating feel and finish plus one that blends oh so easily and gently under my aging, dry eyes.
The problem?
Pigmentation.
There alot of hooray here. MAC housed these in a small tube with a fantastic brush applicator. Simply swipe it on (the small brush allows you to get the inner corner of your eyes easily) and blend it gently out with your ring finger. The formula has a creamy gel-like consistency that’s a pure pleasure to work with. It blends easily and leaves behind a soft, hydrating finish that looks fresh and very natural. I had absolutely no issues with creasing and the formula seems to lock moisture in. The wear time is fairly short though and around hour four or five I need a touch up since it seems the concealer just sinks into my skin or something. Needless to say it simply disappears after a few hours.
My main issue with the formula is the lack of coverage. Pigmentation isn’t particularly great in my opinion. It has a very fresh, flawless finish but under eye woes have a way of showing through that finish so finer lines, dark circles, that tired eye look, well, it simply does offer enough coverage to allow your eyes to look their best.
Other things that can’t be overlooked are the NARS-like packaging and the expiration date. The top is made of rubber (kinda NARS packaging like) and with merely a few uses it begins to look incredibly filthy plus sticky. I think it also deserves mentioning that it expires within six months of use. The box has a six month expiration date. This is fine if you use it and only it for the next several months of your life but if you switch around various concealers than you might not be able to use it up before it starts to go bad.
(NW25 and NC35)
I’d recommend Mineralize Concealer for those who don’t need a ton of coverage. Younger eyes might appreciate it as well. If you need heavier coverage though, you might want to skip as this is lacks what you’ll need to conceal darker circles, etc….
I liked it but I would have loved it if it had better color payoff.
