MAC Vera Pearlmatte Face Powder Sunday Afternoon & Flower Fantasy Review & Swatches
The new Vera Pearlmatte Face Powders are proving rather delightful! Have you hauled them? We last saw this powder when MAC in Lillyland launched but I dare say these powders are considerably nicer than that release.
Take a look!
This classic spin on Spring is filled with butterflies, soft shades of color, and perfectly placed floral notes. The limited edition MAC Pearlmatte Face Powders are a hybrid highlighter/blusher with a graduating shade selection.
I was delighted with these powders since they work brilliantly as a blush…mmm sometimes these highlighter powders from MAC prove too shimmery, too frosty, or just aren’t pigmented enough to act as a blush but I was delighted that these had just the right touch of pigment to act as a blush and a highlighter all in one.
The powder has a cute little ladybug design with the Vera logo embedded right into the powder. It won’t disappear quickly with use but the overspray that gives the design that little something extra does swipe away at first use. Sad sigh!
The powder is split into three parts with three graduating shades of color in three different finishes. Call me nuts but the powder has a very, very faint scent of roses, am I crazy?
You have your choice of cooler pinks here and warmer shades of peach and beige. No matter your skin tone you can take advantage of either in my opinion as both are flattering shades however they’ll appear the brightest as a blush on lighter tones.
My favorite is Flower Fantasy which is made up of a dominate matte shade of warm peach. The smaller strips are made up of a dusky pink and a frosty golden beige. Together the colors come across as a glowing peach on my cheeks (you can see me wearing this by clicking here). I think the best technique for application is swirling in all the shades and applying as trying to get at individual colors could prove challenging as they are really small strips. The good news is the warmer peach has the biggest area available so if you wanna leave off the shimmer in your look you can easily dab your brush in the matte shade only while avoiding the other smaller strips that are shimmery.
Sunday Afternoon Pearlmatte Face Powder is made up of a bright pink shade which dominates the powder. The middle shade, smaller strip is a darker almost mauve pink with a frosty light pink, it looks almost lilac to me, that comes across quite shimmery and lightens up the entire powder. It does have a fair bit of shimmer to it which I thought came across a tad frosty but using less of the bottom shade and more of the almost matte bright pink towards the top will ease things up.
The formula on both powders is fairly silky and blends easily but I think it comes across a little patchy on drier skin so just be sure to prep well prior to application, a hydrating primer is an excellent choice for the nicest, smoothest finish.
Overall, both powders were very nice. Typically MAC releases Beauty Powders, highlighters, etc…that can’t always be used as a blush so these were a refreshing change as both worked as a blush without being overly shimmery or frosty with the right application technique.
Likey!
