NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil Review & Swatches

Not sure why I haven’t tried NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils up until now but they just passed by my beauty radar for some reason. The introduction of new shades intrigued me plus NYX is on sale at Ulta so it proved a perfect excuse to snatch some of these chubby little pencils up.

Take a peek!

Hey, these are as NICE as everyone says they are. I’m kinda on a cream kick, unusual for me to say the least considering I used to hate cream shadow with a passion. I just find creams are so easy to use in the AM. Swipe, blend, done, awesome eye look. No fall out, not a lot of blending involved, just easy! Cream Pencils prove even easier to use thanks to the fact you can line eyes with them as well.

Pure Gold

Yogurt

Sparkle Nude

Cashmere

French Fries

Sparkle Leopard

Joy to the world with NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils dude. These come in a huge selection of colors and will set you back a mere $4.50 each (I got mine for as little as $3 and change). Let’s not forget they are huge compared to a MAC Shadestick which is 0.05 oz for $17.50 where as these are 0.18oz!

These multitask as an eyeliner, cream shadow, or as a base for loose pigments or eyeshadows. Every color I choose was vibrant with a bit of a twinkle and an almost metallic gleam. The formula is soft and creamy but there is a little tugging involved during application if you apply directly from the pencil. They blend easily as well so application is pretty much foolproof.

Sadly, with or without primer they did crease on me after about five hours of wear but you can re-blend them out and they look completely fresh again.

With eyeshadow or pigment on top I saw little to no creasing and they created a superior base for other products as they added vibrancy to whatever I placed on top of them and acted as a solid base for products. They also keep fall out to a minimal so if you have loose powders or piggies laying around that you simply don’t use because clean up is a hassle I highly suggest prepping with these prior and you’ll notice your pigments will adhere better to your lid with minimal fall out issues or clean up after.

The shades I purchased are a mix of old and new shades. I stuck to picking up some nice nude and natural shades, I just seem to appreciate these types of colors more and more as I get older.

Overall, NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils are a win. I wasn’t keen on the tugging involved to get them in place and they do crease an ickle bit but the colors are really very pretty and they make for some easy eye looks in a snap! Plus the pencils multitask as a liner, shadow, and a great base.

I like ’em!

Pick some up if you enjoy cream eyeshadow, you’ll probably enjoy them as much as I do.

I love these! I have Yogurt and I use it as a base for my lower lashline eyeshadow, they don’t budge at all. Love ’em!

So I got cashmere and a couple others, while they’re really nice, sadly cashmere wasn’t exactly what I was looking for, I’m hoping the one from pixi will be better. What do you think of the two?

      • Cj

Yeah I think I’m gonna like it a lot better, can’t wait to get my order lol

sparkle nude was a little frosty peachy on my lids, I’m wearing it in the rimmel review I just did, it’s pretty but def diff from pixi!

I have every single one of these except for the hot pink (possibly discontinued?) and I LOVE THEM.

  • Patti

I have problems with the lids pushing down and smooshing the pencils causing them to have to be constantly resharpened. They crease too (sadly).. Like the colors, don’t like the product.

i know the ingredients list bees wax, does anyone know if that would cause a reaction for people with bee sting allergies?

  • The Peach

I can’t believe you hadn’t tried these before! I’m not a huge fan of them because they crease so bad on me. But love the colors you picked up!

I *loved* the color of yogurt, but even with primer & powder on top it creased on me in just 3 hrs. Darn my oily eyelids :-/.

I love the jumbo pencils and own like 50% of them. Haven’t experienced tugging on them even when working on the waterline. I love using them as a liner or a base for UD shadows, they work great!

Well, I know this is an old post, but I just picked up 2 of these at the current Ulta sale. My Dd who is 12 wanted the pots and pans (silver) & I have been eyeing Knight. Both are very nice colors. We both wanted these to use as eyeliner and neither is working for us. Dd used alone ( no eye cream, primer or shadow) & I used with all of the above! Both of us had the issure thst they traveled. I dint think mine lasted more than 10 seconds! I tried to lightly close my eyes and reapply but I look like Indo not have any liner on at all. Btw, love the knight color, its a dark dark green black with a little gold in it, too bad it doesnt stay. At least I have my Smashbox Shadow Liners and Tarte Smolder Eyes, they will both last alllllllllll day and beyond.

Hi, I really love your review. so I’m in a dilemma where I need to choose one, between sparkle nude and cashmere. What do you think?

  • DonnaMarie Baldwin

    I love NYX pencils.
Are they suppose to be sharpened or does the bottom area allow the product to raise?
I can’t make it come out of the container. The bottom part doesn’t move.

    • Isabella Muse

you can sharpen it with a jumbo eyeliner sharpener. It doesn’t click upwards, it needs to be sharpened when the tip goes flat.
