Physicians Formula Cashmere Wear Ultra-Smoothing Blush Review & Swatches

If you’re heading in for a haul on the new Physicians Formula Cashmere Wear Ultra-Smoothing Blush you might want to go with the Natural shade since the Rose is very close, with a minor difference, to the new MatchMaker pH Powered Blush in Rose.

Another words, you simply don’t need both products in the Rose shade *wink*!

Let’s take a peek at this one, see what the good news is.

Packaging is pretty cool on this but I’ve learned from experience (I have the bronzer they released last year) that it’s not the most conventional packaging in the world. This is a square felt fabric covered compact. I guess they thought the felt was soft like cashmere thus the marketing behind the compact? It’s just a mess in my humblest as it attracts dirt, lint, etc..like a magnet. I have the same issues with Urban Decay’s Naked Palette, thank the gods Naked 2 isn’t felt covered.

On the upside, it’s actually pretty suave since it has a nice full size mirror in the back with a decent brush for application, no scratchy issues or shedding. It’s not really travel friendly as it will flip open easily should you tuck it into your purse.

The actual blush is a joy as the formula is super pigmented, silky, and a rather gorgeous shade of bright pink. I think it’ll be suitable for many skin types even those that are darker. If you’re fairer with redness you might want to second guess the Rose shade (I haven’t gotten my hands on Natural yet so not sure how that shade is) as it is really bright.

It gives my face a lovely youthful glow with a long wear time, I can apply in the AM and work well into the PM with the same vibrancy on my cheeks as when I first applied.

Compared to Matchmaker it seems to be a brighter, more vibrant shade of pink however the differences are super subtle and the shades are easily duplicated should you swatch them on your arm. The main difference between the two is the Cashmere Wear has a smaller strip of paler, baby pink that lightens up the vibrancy of all the pink so the shades can come across as full on or more subtle when mixed with the paler pink.

Overall, I like the shade a lot but I have to say that I thought Matchmaker looked more natural on my cheeks as the brighter pink here seems a little overwhelming even when the paler pink was added to the mix. If I had to choose between the two I’d go with the Matchmaker one. I will pick up the Natural shade should it pop up at my local drugstore as that seems like a rather lovely shade. I gotta say the full $13.99 price tag disappoints slightly as for that you can snag a MAC blush…but on the up side it does contain a bit more product than a MAC blush.

If you like bright shades of pink blush this has you covered.

I picked it up during a BOGO at Ulta.com but some reader’s have reported seeing it in store at CVS, I haven’t been that lucky yet.

Is anyone an old school C&P adventure geek? I loved King’s Quest as a kid. If you like classic point and click adventure check out Corrosion: Cold Winter Waiting. It’s pretty wicked and has some cool scary elements to it with a soundtrack that kinda gives you chills as you progress. The first puzzle is absolutely a PITA but after that things are considerably easier. I’m kinda taking my time with it, I typically like to rush through games and replay them at a slower pace but this time I’m kinda savoring it.

Do check it out if you love classic adventure!
