Physicians Formula Youthful Wear Cosmeceutical Youth-Boosting Foundation Review & Swatches

Physicians Formula launched a new collection for Spring 2012 entitled Youthful Wear. These products are supposed to shave 10 years off your skin life and make you look instantly younger.

Indeed who doesn’t want that?

Let’s take a look at the Physicians Formula Youthful Wear Cosmeceutical Youth-Boosting Foundation.

I loved the powder in this collection so I was quite eager to try the foundation out. Shades are limited to Fair, Light, and Medium but in most cases I seem to always had success finding a perfect match from Physicians Formula so no issues with that however not everyone falls into these shade categories so you’re a bit hindered with the color selection.

This comes in a squeeze tube and includes a small, travel size foundation brush. Physicians Formula has been making big improvements on their brushes as this is soft and shed-free versus their older brushes which shed like a cat and have a scratchy feel.

The formula is a whipped texture that melts into skin and blends easily. Coverage is sheer to medium when built up but probably won’t hide hardcore skin issues. I didn’t personally love the texture of the product as it has a sort of built in primer feel. It’s a bit silicone-like with a velvety finish that seems to roll off my drier skin in an unflattering way. I imagine if you have oily skin or finely lined skin you’ll like how the texture fills lines and mattifies oily areas but if you’re drier like me you probably won’t love the finish. I find the texture will be particularly a turn off for those who avoid silicone primers. I personally don’t like such a primer because it makes me either itchy or just uncomfortable. I like my foundation light enough that I don’t feel it on and this feels heavy to me.

The medium shade is also very orange-y and beige which isn’t suitable for someone, like myself, who has dull skin as it just makes my skin look very tired and old.

Supposedly the formula helps treat the visible signs of aging restoring firmness & elasticity and improving skin’s appearance instantly and long-term. I didn’t really notice any difference in the realms of instantly looking younger and I can’t speak for long term since I’m only into my second week of use.

It’s really something you’ll have to try for yourself as I’m hearing quite a few folks say how much they love it. I sadly, didn’t experience the same feeling. It just felt very heavy and uncomfortable on my skin plus it aged me considerably.

Didn’t love this one.

Sorry, for $14.95 I’d rather indulge in a higher end foundation or BB Cream.

Tried it?

Did so love it?

Yeah see I really liked it but I knew you wouldn’t because of the texture lol. Silicone primers work really good for me even tho I have dry skin, I guess my skin is like only slightly dry or something lol.

On a side note I should be getting the new skin79 bb cream in the mail today :D! I’m super excited lol

Bought it yesterday, color match is ok, forgot to try it this morning, still in box, lol.

Ive been wearing it for over 2 weeks now and I love it. Doesn’t look cakey or obvious up close, pool up on my oily skin and the color match is really good.

I’ve been using this for a few weeks now and I really like it.

It doesn’t feel greasy and is very light on my skin.

The brush is super soft but I prefer to use my fingers.

I turned in the money back rebate as well so waiting on that.

The lady on the box – not only did the foundation make her younger but it gave her highlights and parted her hair on the other side too!

I liked this, light is a good match for me and it actually felt like it helped my oily skin stay more matte. I can see me using this more in the cooler months, I can’t say how it will feel this summer. I love the concealer though, the roller ball thingie makes it look sooo good 🙂 It is one of the better concealers I have used.

Lol… Too funny about the lady on the box! Just bought this and anxious to try it. Was kinda sad after reading your review but maybe it’ll work for me. If not, back it goes! Can’t wait to try the powder!

I have combo/oily skin most of the year but right now it is combo/dry and I felt that it accentuated my dry patches. I did not find it itchy but it definitely has the slip of silicone when applied (but does not last). I also did not like the coverage which was too light for me whether I used a brush or my fingers. If I tried to add more product for more coverage it just seemed to look too “obvious” and accentuated my dryness even more. I think I’m going to have to go back to high-end foundations.

I have oily skin and have spent so much money trying to find a foundation that wont make my face an oily mess an hour after I put it on. I have finally found it. I love this make up! Thank you physicians formula!

I am going late this afternoon and purchasing this to see if it is any good. I am a mature woman with normal/combo skin. Very fair skin tone and lots of freckles from too much sun when I lived in Arizona. Probably some of them I need to go to a dermatologist to have removed, they look dark and one of them is bumpy…ewwww. Anyway, I will be back this evening after I play World of Warcraft and let you know what I think. I love your blogs…What a great way to learn new things and help others at same time.

let me know how it works out for you jeni! 😀 aw thank you very much!
