Review & Swatches: Cheap Thrills with New Shades of Milani Crystal Gloss for Lips
Milani has introduced several new shades of their Crystal Gloss for Lips. I’m a rather big Milani fan girl but I haven’t tried these, my god, where have I been?
Since they have new shades available now is a good a time as any to review ’em up!
Have a look!
(Fruit Punch, Clear, Raspberry Bling, Pucker Up, and Dark Honey)
Looks are deceiving, these tiny tubes look small but big things come in tiny packages as these house 0.17 oz of glosses. That’s the equivalent of a MAC Lipglass for as little as $5 bucks and change.
These are available in 15 shades, five of which are brand new colors for Spring 2012.
New Shades:
- Dark Honey (sheer glittering blackened plum)
- Clear (clear gloss)
- Fruit Punch (cream coral pink)
- Pucker Up (cream melon)
- Raspberry Bling (bright shimmering fuchsia)
The size isn’t the only thing that’s similar to MAC here, the formula is pretty consistent with what you’d expect from a more expensive Lipglass, medium texture, not too thick, not too thin, enough stick and tack to allow it to have a fairly long wear time, perhaps 4 to 5 hours without eating and drinking, and a subtle vanilla taste.
Each features a sponge tip applicator that builds the gloss easily. They start out a tad on the drier side but built up they create a nice even layer of product that leave lips shiny.

All of the newer shades are a tad sheer so I suggest a little lipstick or stain underneath for the best results but the cream ones have a nice pop of color when built up.
If you’re on a strict budget these are pretty much what you’d get from MAC for as little as five bucks each and in some cases even less if your local drugstore is having a BOGO (Buy 1, Get 1) sale. The formula is very similar to what you’d see from a more expensive lipglass.
The only downside is the color names are printed on the cap. I think they should have labeled the bottom as with constant use and handling the ink will probably rub off. This stinks if you forget the name of the shade and want to repurchase!
A cheap thrill well worth picking up!
