Betty Lou Manizer Bronzer Review & Swatches

Ladies, it’s bronzing season.

Just not for me, stay away from me with the bronzer.

But I can do Betty Lou Manizer on not only my face and cheeks but my eyes. Pretty nifty dontcha think?

Betty Lou is Mary Lou’s naughty little sister. Where as Mary is a soft, golden highlighting powder, Betty is a vampy bronzing goddess.

This soft, velvety bronzer is a rich, chocolate-y shade. I always find shades like this a ickle difficult to apply on my face as I end up looking like I played in the mud. Hey, these blending skills need a ton of work!

If you’re a wizard with bronzer I imagine you’ll find the soft formula incredibly easy to apply and blend out. The formula reminds me of a big old pot of Stila Eyeshadow. It has that creamy powdery feel that has the look and feel of velvet. So soft and smooth with a little creamy edge. Gorgeous.

The best part about the shade is it multitasks like a little demon on lids so I can get an easy smoky bronze eye look in seconds with a little brown eyeliner. It applies beautifully on my eyes!

It might not be a hit for my bronzer needs, as hey I’m not much for bronzer, but for eyeshadow it’s a fabulous little pick. And the bronzer girls out there, I think you’ll find the formula a smooth, dreamy fit for your Summer glow needs.

Tried it?

Love it?

Muse, bronzers and blushes stand as eyeshadows as well. And they come with more value than a single eyeshadow! The same brand packs their blush with more (3-6 times) product than the single eyeshadow, and the price is almost the same for the 2.

I have it and I love it during the summer (when I fake bake haha)! It is a touch on the shimmery side, so what I do is use a matte bronzer all over my face first (like Benefit’s Hoola or Tarte’s Smooth Operator in Bronze) and then use this instead of blush.

LOL I love that iphone case! But alas, I have a lame droidX. I find Betty Lou to blend quite nicely! Most of the time I can only use matte bronzers, and only to contour, but this blends out nicely enough it really does give me a day-in-the-sun kind of look when applied with a stippling brush where the sun would hit. Yeah, most bronzers I try to use that way make me look like I was making a mess baking chocolate cake (puff! in my face). I’m NC25, so any paler and I’d avoid this, though.

damn you switch phones you need han solo, immortalized in carbonite, for your phone ;-D I’ve been using it on my lids as I get a little snap happy with my brush and end up too bronzered aka chocolate cake lol!

Lol there is no way my pale butt can use that! I’m just now starting to get into bronzer for the first time in my life, I got Mac’s bronzing powder in the lightest shade and looked up a bunch of how to videos on YouTube. If I use a light hand it gives me just enough color to add some warmth to my face 🙂

josh always looks so perfectly glow-y in his vids and he’s pretty fair ;-D I dunno how that boy works it so right! there is still hope left for us cj ;D

      • Cj

Exactly! He’s even paler than me!! I swear one of these days in gonna kidnap him and force him to teach me how he does it LOL!

I have trouble with bronzers too, they always look so orange on me. I think I’m going to try nyx taupe blush for contouring. I here it’s great for people with fair skin.

  • Sondra

I have both Mary Lou & Betty. I’ve never tried bronzers. I’ve bought them in hopes of trying. I have fair skin & don’t like to tan. So I thought a bronzer was the answer. Well I still don’t put it on correctly b/c I end up looking weird. I may try again later.

Hi muse I have a completely unrelated question x_x sorry >_< but how do you get that little "as seen by the muse" picture box on the side of your blog? (((:

    • the Muse

it’s built into my template rawr. Needs special coding in wordpress, only works with a self hosted site I believe.

  • Nydia

I’m with ya on the bronzer. i would love to be able to wear it but somehow I can’t get it on right…so I stopped trying…I am VERY interested in their luminizer though!
