Gosh Effect Powder Review & Swatches

I’m going to tell you something….

Reader’s ask me why I never review indie mineral makeup. There’s a very important reason why I do not buy mineral makeup.

Jump!

I don’t buy mineral makeup because it’s freaking addicting. I would not be satisfied until I own every single loose powder shade that an indie company made.

I know I have an addictive personality when it comes to things I like, makeup for example. A beauty junkie’s dream is eyeshadow shades in 100’s of 1000’s of colors and that’s exactly what indie mineral companies provide. A buffet of endless color. I simply cannot become emotionally involved in these companies…I can picture myself trying to decide on a few colors and it would end up being a cart full of every shade.

No, just no.

I can’t do it.

That’s why products like Gosh Effects Powder are dangerous to people like me. With over 30 shades to choose from how can a beauty junkie not want them all?

Gosh Effects Powder is a small glass jar of loose powder pigment that can be used wet or dry on eyes. Think MAC Pigment. These smaller jars are considerably easier to get through than a larger MAC Pigment jar and have a fairly inexpensive price tag at $10 each.

I found the texture silky compared to MAC’s chunkier, shimmery formula. These have a subtle hint of shimmer and layer very well. I also experienced far less fall out than I would with a MAC one since the formula runs a bit thinner and has a better grip. Pigmentation builds easily here but has a softer color off than a MAC Pigment which has a richer saturation of color but hey, not bad at all especially if you want to go from sheer to louder with a few strokes versus loud right out of the gate (I’m talking to you MAC).

(Swatched: Butterfly)

This was actually a gift from a fellow beauty blogger friend so thankfully I didn’t indulge myself as I can see my addictive personality making an order for every single shade of these that Gosh has.

Overall, a very nice loose powder product and worth a check out if you aren’t quite convinced that MAC Pigments are your bag. These pack a less powerful punch but still provide a nice finish overall with a lovely color payoff and a formula that applies easily.

I have a mermaid-y teal called Azure– so pretty, especially when used wet! I don’t use it very often sadly; I just find loose shadows in general to be kind of messy and inconvenient compared to pressed shadows.

GOSH is a drugstore brand here in Europe – the quality is fantastic though!

This is me all the way. When I was deployed in iraq I cant even describe how colorless everything is. when I was playing around on the internet and saw swatches of fyrinnae shadows. Oh. My. God…being a color and makeup deprived junkie I ordered samples of pretty much everything to waiting for me when I got home. Then I got really obsessed and spent a bunch of money. Too bad I hate loose pigments and only reach for nudes. It’s a dangerous habit I agree

that’s why I totally avoid this sites. I seriously would go ape sh*t ordering everything Daniela ;-D they are so pretty but I know I’d end up with 500 sample jars I’d never use!

I love indie mmu so much. I only started buying it a year ago and I already have a ton of eyeshadows and most I have barely or never used D: But they are sooooooo pretty and inexpensive and amazing.

I haven’t tried GOSH before, but I should!

Found a bunch in a clearance bin at my shoppers for 2$ each. Needless to say I bought the four that were there. BIG mistake, now I want them ALL. I walked away with Greeny, Paradise (not super thrilled with that one), fiery (super hot) and blue diamond (sooo sexy). Gotta say I love em, I don’t wear make up much (I’m a pipe fitter in construction) but these have reformed me to a Gosh girl, I used to be obsessed with Quo but have found their quality has significantly declined lately.

I like your honesty 🙂 I think lots of people are like that at least you have a blog so it doesnt “go to waste” if that makes any sense.
