About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Ladies of Musings, do any of you look good with purple lips? As someone who’s NC15 when I’m tan, I look at purple lips products with puzzlement. So help me out here, what skin tones can rock a lavender lip and not look like a zombie? Or do you use purple to cancel out/neutralize other colors?

    • the Muse

i only know what person that rocks purples, blues, neons, etc like nobody’s biz and she’s lighter than an NC15, that’d be courtney at http://www.phyrra.net

Personally, I haven’t a clue other than her who looks good in the shade although I will say that purple does look really good on deep, dark skin tones. But light skin is damn difficult to pull it off unless you’re clubbing.

        Aww Thank you Izzy! xoxooxoxooxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

I think purple can add warmth to a color, if it’s like a gloss.

I’m too golden ish.. when I tan I look welll.. sun tan lol and living in the desert means I’m pretty much always some shade of tan. I like the lightest purple but it would give me a living dead girl look on its own.. not hip or pretty just hypothermic, but if its sheer it will layer well with deeper purples. Now on my eyes i can rock anything. I’m more of ab old lip girl. I like mattes, cremes, and when I go light I like a mod-pink. I’m really liking the looks of this collection especially the duo chromes and the minieralize with blueish stripes

I love a purple lip. I’m NW47 and purple lips look great on me. I have seen ladies with deep skin tone rock Lavender Whip by MAC which is very light. I think an appropriate lip liner color makes the biggest difference in making a color wearable. If its a gloss, it can be worn to tone down a loud lipstick. So it just depends.
