Seriously, the Make Up For Ever Lab Shine Collection has to get all the props you can give it for variety. It’s one of the biggest selections of lipglosses around with a ton of colors and finishes to choose from.
If nothing else, us beauty junkies love ourselves some variety and this collection brings it.
Add to the fact that these glosses are fairly affordable and you have yourself the perfect selection to choose from.
The Make Up For Ever Lab Shine Collection contains over 35 shades in sparkling, pearl, and chrome finishes with sheer, medium, and full color pay off. I think the pure variety of the collections rivals even MAC in terms of how many shades and finishes you have to choose from here.
The $18 price tag and size isn’t as friendly as MAC Lipglass but looking at the overall picture of middle range brands, MUFE definitely offers a nice bit of bang for your buck.
I find the formula on these incredibly lightweight sans the stickiness and tackiness associated with a gloss of this caliber plus the Metal formula drops a a hell of a color pay off on lips. The glosses sport a lip brush for application. I actually find I prefer brush applicators more and more lately as sponges are sometimes crummy for building color so I definitely appreciate this method of application.
The Diamond Collection gives lips sparkling, sheerer coverage. The color I tried in this finish was D6 which is a bright, sparkling fuchsia. Color is sheer but you do get a tinge of pink in there so it isn’t completely without pigment. I find this finish packs the most shimmer and sparkle of the three. It wears fairly comfortable, isn’t overly tacky, and has a decent wear time of around three to four hours, for gloss, I’d say that isn’t too bad. These are moisturizing and do contain hyaluronic acid which retains moisture and keeps the wear very comfortable and hydrating. I’m not keen on the flavor of the glosses. It’s supposed to be tropical fruit of some sort but it ends up tasting more perfume-y to me.
Metal is my favorite finish of the Lab Shines as it offers the best color pay off. These have the thickest texture of the finishes but doesn’t have a tacky, sticky, or gooey feel. They wear very comfortable, offer a full color payoff, and keep lips very hydrated throughout the entire wear of the gloss.
And finally the Star Collection offers has the thinnest texture of the three finishes. This too has a comfortable wear without being tacky or sticky. These are quite sheer like the Diamond Collection but unlike that finish they end up having a poorer wear time of around 2 to 3 hours. I also hate that they tend to leave behind a ton of glittery bits on lips once they fade away completely.
No matter your finish of choice, Make Up For Ever pretty much covers it all with the Lab Shine Collection. This is a great selection of lipglosses with a fantastic formula that has a fairly long wearing, comfortable wear. The variety is one of the best parts about the collection.

You can’t say no to this one.
I do give them a Muse Approval for purchase.
The variety seals the deal here.
