Nip + Fab Sheer Make-Up Fix Review & Swatches

Nip + Fab is a collection of affordable beauty fixes from the creator of the more prestigious (and expensive) Rodial line of products. Rodial isn’t a line of products within everyone’s reach as it does run on the pricey side so I feel like Nip + Fab is its affordable little sister that offers a selection of some pretty great little products that I’ve been testing out recently. Recently Nip + Fab has made its home at Target where as prior it was available within the UK.

Here’s some of my thoughts on their Make-Up Fix (hint, I love it!).

You can spend millions of dollars on color cosmetics but they are never going to look right without the proper prepping tools. Prepping prior to cosmetic application is key to allowing your blush, shadow, and lipstick to look its very best.

The new love of my priming life? Nip + Fab Sheer Make-Up Fix.

You NEED it.

This little multi-tasking, quick absorbing gel is a lovely little formula for the dry skin chicas out there. It’s a thicker gel primer that has a quick absorbing formula which blurs the appearances of fine lines and pores. It creates a very smooth surface for makeup. Actually, one of the first things I noticed about it was how smooth my skin looked and felt after use.

Nip + Fab suggest use under makeup or on its own. Honestly, if you have fairly good skin you can easily get away with it as a sheer makeup to fill pores and create a smooth, natural skin appearance sans foundations. It really does work at making your face look fresher, awake, and very natural.

Perfectly I prefer using as a primer as it makes my skin look fresh and allows my foundation to glide on easily particularly over any drier areas on my skin. The joy here is how smooth and gorgeous my skin looks with this under my foundation. It also prevents my foundation or BB Cream from oxidizing thus allowing it to wear long and remain fresh. Hyaluronic acid is also found in the mix here thus moisturizing and keeping moisture locked into skin.

At $14.95 for 1.35 oz this little product lives up to its name and is indeed Fab!

Overall, you can’t beat the price and performance here. I’m loving it.

I’d like to think YOU need this one. Well worth picking up and very Muse Approved for purchase.

Nip + Fab is now sold at Target and Target.com. Learn more at their website www.nipandfab.com

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. You’re killin’ me with all the stuff I want now! 😀 I blame you for all this.. (yeah, yeah, that’s the story…)

I’m getting really low on my MAC prep/prime and was actually gonna rebuy but if this is out there…… and is about half the price…. Well, my math ain’t THAT bad! I’m getting this one! 😀

  • Nikki

Wow! I think I need to try this! My revlon photoready primer makes my skin look a little dry and for some reason it’s harder to blend my foundation.

    • the Muse

this is gorgeous stuff! absorbs so quickly and leaves my skin looking amazing ;-D repurchase in my future!

    • Ruthless

Glad to see I’m not the only one with the photoready issue-at first I loved it but really has begun to make foundation difficult to apply

  • Cj

Everytime I see “You NEED this!” my wallet shudders 😛 This brand has a lot of nice looking stuff, I’m gonna put in an order 😛 recommend anything else?

PS: Do you like Mac’s prep n prime pressed powder? I’ve been wearing cream blushes more lately and need a invisible powder

  • sanah

Is this a water-based primer? and how would this fair for oily skinned girls? Thanks!! Always love your reviews 🙂

    • the Muse

water base sanah. not great for super oily skin since it doesn’t mattify super well but nice and refreshing if your sensitive and oily. aw thanks cheers sweet thing 😀

  • Liz!

Is the finish satiny, matte or dewy muse? I’ gots the oilies over here, and have been on the lookout for a primer, pref one that doesn’t make me more shiney than I am. Also, does it contain silicone or feel like it does? Cuz that freaks my skin out :-/

    • the Muse

dewy, fresh feel liz 🙂 no silicone here! same for me, silicone primers make me itchy!

  • linda

hate to ask again about cones? but are there silicones? usually there are but if its small I can do it!

    • the Muse

it’s just a primer suzie, it doesn’t treat or conceal anything hun.

      • Suzie

Oh I know, I meant would it improve the texture of acne scars if you put foundation over it. 🙂

        • the Muse

mmm not really…it creates smoother skin in terms of hydrating. You might want to go with a silicone based primer for acne scarring, it’s more suitable for filling the areas and smoothing them over.

ingredients are: Aqua(water),Dimethicone, cyclopentasiloxane,polysilicon-11, glycerin, sodium polyacrylate, hydrogenated polydecene, benzyl alcohol, avena sativa kernal extract, phenoxyethanol, glyceryl polyacrylate, trideceth-6, sodium hyaluronate, dehydroacetic acid, parfum (fragrance, limonene, ethylhexyglycerin, linalool. I just bought mine from a thrift store for $2.00, sealed in the box. Looking forward to trying it.

  • the Muse

sorry guys was doing research while waiting for our movie to start and it does have dimethicone, but it is water based, no issues with that powdery/velvety silicone feel. hope this helps! apologies for the wrong deets!

  • Ashley

Wait a minute, Nip + Fab is little sister of Rodial?! I had no idea, I thought it was just another amazing and affordable UK brand!

  • Majick

I will have to put this on my list for when I run out of primer. Sounds really nice.

  • Jes

<3 <3 <3 Thanks so much for this recommendation. I have been looking for a BB friendly primer that doesn't make my skin itch. Was using Shiseido, but it just wasn't cutting it. Picked up the last one in my local Target.

  • Joy

Okay, Muse, I am entirely convinced that you’re the best thing to ever happen to the internet.

I read this review and immediately my curiosity was peaked and excitement began to percolate. At $15 it was kind of a “ehhh what’s the harm? Muse likes it so it’s worth a shot.”

I’ve been on a hunt for a primer that would a) matttify my skin, b) make my foundation last longer, and c) not dry out my skin/ emphasize my dryness. I feel like I’ve tried damn near every primer in all of Sephora yet they all come short.

Well guess what. This primer fits my list and exceeds my expectations. It is the first primer I have ever used that makes my makeup last longer, keeps my dry cheeks looking fresh all day, and keeps my t-zone fairly shine free (If I use it in conjunction with Urban Decay’s De-Slick powder in the morning, I don’t have to blot at all during the day! Yay!)

I bow to you. Thank you so much for this review. My frustration and hostility toward primers has completely subsided and has been replaced by happiness and prettiness!

    • the Muse

awwww thankssssssssssssssssss I am absolutely blushing over your lovely compliment ;-D <3!

  • Cat

    I want to try this!

Have you ever tried the Nip+Fab Glycolic Fix Exfoliating Facial Pads? I just got them the other day because I’ve heard good things about the brand. I used one in the morning and one before bed and when I woke up this morning my boyfriend commented that my skin looked ‘eerily good’ for having just woken up. I rushed to a mirror and wow–soft, bright and dare I say glowy! I’m really impressed. I don’t think its necessary to use them twice a day at all and I’ll probably reduce to just once before bed or maybe 3 times a week…but wow, between Thayers Witch Hazel and these pads my face is looking gorgeous! I recommend trying them out!

  • Ashley

  • Lisa

I just stumbled upon it on clearance also at Ulta and figured I would try it out and am loving it! I am going to go back and see if they have anymore because it really is a good deal at only 3.24! Thanks Muse!
