NYX Pore Filler Review

NYX Pore Filler is a new silicone based primer from the brand that offers the ability to fill pores and give the appearance of smoother skin. The mattifying formula is the ideal pick to keep oily skin at bay.

Take a peek!

First off, I hate silicone primers. Eep! They make me so itchy. Plus they do no favors for my drier skin. Lucky enough NYX Pore Filler is a comfortable experience all around so if you have the same issues in regard to that itchy, mask-like feel from a silicone primer and have been wanting a more lightweight primer that fills pores and blurs minor issues this might be a perfect pick.

Sadly, it does bad, bad things to my dry skin as it pills and accentuates flaky areas in a major way so I do suggest hauling this out during the Summer months for the best results if you have drier skin. If you’re oily, you can take advantage all year round as this offers mattifying abilities as well as creates a smooth surface for makeup to adhere to.

Overlooking the fact that it makes my flaky areas very prominent, I will say it gives me face a doll-like quality that’s incredible. I don’t have larger pores but the ones around my nose are on the visible side and this smooths over that area beautifully. It creates such a smooth, even look to my skin that can only be described as perfection. The lighter texture has a velvet-y feel and a powdery dry down that remains lightweight and will mattify skin if you’re on the oily side. The primer acts as a very solid base between your skin and your foundation resulting in extended wear time. You’ll notice foundation wears longer and won’t oxidize as quickly with this in place. The flesh colored formula reminds me of Too Faced Primed & Poreless which evens out skin tone ever so subtly.

If you have issues with finer lines under your eyes I highly suggest smoothing this under them and placing concealer on top as it blurs their appearance beautifully and creates a smooth surface for concealer.

I wouldn’t recommend it for dry skin but if you’re oily with larger pores this is a very good pick. The quality is even better than that of fan favorites like Smashbox Photofinish.

This one deserves a Muse Approval.

I wonder if the pilling could be remedied by using less product? Silicone can’t absorb into the skin, so if too much is applied it will literally roll up on itself because there’s essentially no where else for it to go. I used to have clients that thought their skin was peeling, when it was actually silicone OD (if you use a silicone based serum and then a primer like this over top, it’s very common). I’ve also seen very thick (or old) primers do this as they evaporate on the skin more slowly.

mm I don’t use that much but still have issues. a tiny dot each side of my face. I’ve always had issues with ‘cone primers that pill on me.

I feel like they could have given it a name better than “Pore Filler”….

  • Twirishlady

Okay, thank you! I have been searching for something that would “fill in” my lines so that my concealer wouldn’t sink into them! Can’t wait to try this out 🙂

Nice review! I’ve been wondering about NYX’s version of a pore filler. Definitely more affordable than some of the ones I’ve seen. I’ll have to pick this up. Hope you have an awesome weekend! 🙂

My pores are already filled..with gunk I can never seem to get out. This I think might just sit on top. 🙁

    • Ruth

heh, me too! I know that I’m not supposed to squeeze them but I can’t seem to help myself! It’s so satifying when all of that gunk comes squishing out =)

This looks fab!! Very excited to get my hands on this as my Primed & Poreless finished up last week and I can’t justify the price of a new one!

  • Lisa Marie

I am hoping this will make my undereye area and nose look smooth….can’t wait to get some to try. Thanks for the review and honesty in product “test-driving.”

Same texture/results as the Smashbox filler? It appears to be like BeneFit’s Porefessional.

  • Betti

Is this comparale to L’oreal’s miracle blur?
I tried that one and loved it (just like you:) but I’m looking for a more affordable primer.

    • Isabella Muse

not really 🙁 Miracle Blur works better with my drier skin this not so much!

  • Betti

Oh, hello Muse, thanks for getting back to me 🙂
My t-zone is oily pretty badly, wich one would be better for my skintype?

  • Clem

I don’t have really dry skin (I don’t have dead skin on my face or anything), but i definitely don’t have oily skin either. Would you recommend this or the angel face primer also by NIX?

This pore filler is tiny and dries up immediately. Bought it one day and was only able to get 3 applications out of before it was empty. Wrote to NYX and the never responded to me.
Tube dries up too soon or is not full.
    Tube is way too small
Price way to high for amount in tube
Company not interested in good customer service
