NYX Shine Killer Review & Swatches
Ok, Urban Decay De-Slick in a Tube, absolutely essential for oily skin. Such a life saver for Summer wearin’ and tearin’ as well.
I was thinking the new NYX Shine Killer might prove a dupe but…mmm formula is different but still for mattifying none the less.
Take a look!
I’m actually sorta kinda not finding much of a huge difference between the new NYX Pore Filler and Shine Killer. If you already own Pore Filler you might not need to indulge in Shine Killer or if you’re trying to figure out if you need both or which one you’d want more over the other, well there isn’t a ton of differences between the products so one or the other is a perfectly great purchase but not sure you’ll need both.
Shine Killer is a soft clear gel which has a soft, velvety finish and a silicone base. If you like silicone primers, well it is debatable if you need it. It does have that velvety, powdery feel and dries down to a matte finish however on the plus sound it isn’t itchy nor does it pill. It’s really debatable if this is for you or not, I personally prefer hydrating primers due to my drier skin but I find I migrate towards silicone primers occasionally when I want a super smooth canvas to apply makeup as hydrating ones don’t exactly excel at creating such a surface.
The differences between Pore Filler and Shine Killer are pretty slim pickings. Pore Filler runs a bit thicker where as Shine Killer seems to be a tiny bit thinner but you’d really have to be paying attention to notice this. Pore Filler is a fleshy peach shade where as Shine Killer is a clear gel. Both work great at blurring imperfections and mattifying skin.
Overall, Shine Killer is a solid pick for those with oily skin that need a good base that lays the ground work for foundation. This will easily keep shine at bay and allow your foundation to wear an extra hour or two longer. The cheaper price tag also makes it highly appealing as silicone primers on the mid and higher end aren’t exactly cheap.
