Tarina Tarantino Eye Dream Highlight Duo Review & Swatches

Tarina Tarantino Eye Dream Highlight Duo are new shadow palettes from the brand for Spring 2012. As you know Tarina has revised the packaging on her cosmetic line that’s available exclusively at Sephora but also take note of the fact the shadow formula has improved considerably as well in terms of pigmentation and quality.

Let’s take a peek at these new compacts and see what the good word is.

These are a very reasonably priced shadow duo at $19 particularly when you’re looking at the whole picture of quality, formula, and packaging.

Not only are you getting a very gorgeous compact featuring a mirror and lovely embellishments but you’ll also be privy to a rather great formula as well. These are a calorie laden version of a Stila Eyeshadow in my opinion. They have a heavier feel with a soft buttery texture that has a velvet-like finish. They glide across eyes like a cream and blend out easily with minimal fuss. Wet or dry you’ll find they have a metallic-like gleam that lights up eyes with a lovely little sparkle. And color pay off? Excellent! The shades are richly saturated with color so a single swipe will get you a perfect color pay off every time and shades build easily for more bolder looks. Some of the shades go a little frosty on me but with proper blending you’ll find it eases quickly.

Mr Gold/Mr Silver

Jasper/Agate

Amber/Elektron

Overall, I must say these are a delightful little duo. I liked these considerably more than the recently introduced Jewel Shadow Palettes. The formula and packaging is incredible but the real joy is the $19 price tag for a good deal of shadow, 0.13 oz.

Note: Apologies but the photos below are direct sunlight, no flash, so the shade on my lids didn’t quite come out as vibrant as I wanted it to. I’m wearing Amber/Elektron below.

Quite a testimony in quality all around.

Loves ’em!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Very cute! I have one of the other palettes with the 5 colors. I like it, it’s the purple one (Magical I think?) but the others just didn’t have the greatest color combos imho.

The one you are wearing reminds me of BE Ready in “The Top Shelf”. It’s one of the better Ready duos. 🙂

i thought them frosty too or am I nuts majick? yes! i have that one ;D the BE ones are guilty of being odd color combos too!

Just beautiful! A Sephora store opens here in June and I am so excited. Never been in one before. Our BE store stays packed so I know Sephora will too. But I’ll have to inch my way in for beautiful shadows like those. I’m actually supposed to be streamlining my collection to just a handful of brands but this is making it super hard.
