Too Faced Royal Oil Body Bronzer Review & Swatches

Oh baby…I can use some time away, some fun in the sun, not by the beach though, a pool…I don’t dig seaweed and sand.

No time now though but can do some Summer glowin’ with the new Too Faced Royal Oil Body Bronzer.

Too Faced Royal Oil is a new body bronzer from the brand that launched with their 2012 Summer Collection. Been spending too much time indoors this Winter and looking a little pasty? No worries Royal Oil gives a deliciously warm glow to both pale and dark skin tones in a luxuriously thick, creamy formula.

This golden, chocolate-y bronze shade is spiked with a golden sheen for just the right glow that doesn’t look muddy or dull, just glowing bronze all over.

The formula is a smooth, slick, hydrating thick liquid that has a subtle coconut tanning oil scent. It is a bit messy to apply so start of slowly on legs, arms, etc…and build the color. I’d also recommend doing this in your bathing suit or underwear as it does need a second or two to dry down. I’d give it 3-5 minutes to be completely dry down. I didn’t have issues with it transferring so long as I had the patience to wait for it to dry completely.

The formula is really luxurious. It’s thick, absorbs fairly easily without looking or feeling greasy or oily, and has a beautiful dewy sheen that leaves behind a golden bronze-y glow. NARS has a similiar product and if you love that, I’m positive you’ll love this as it’s considerably less greasy and feels very hydrating.

(A very light application of Royal Oil on my arm)

One thing that deserves mentioning is once you get it onto your hands you’ll need to rinse with soap and water as it’s the only place on my body that felt sticky and tacky after application. If you’re feeling a little adventurous you can apply a bit on your lids as an eye gloss too!

I’m not really a huge bronzer person but even my pale, I’ve been hibernating too long legs, can use a little pick me up and this does the trick beautifully.

It needs a little TLC for application but is well worth the extra time.

Lovely stuff and the bottle is huge (3.3 oz), it should last you all Summer with the amount of pigmentation a single drop of the oil has.

Looks nice! I’m glad to hear that you didn’t have issues with transferring- that’s what I was worried about.

I wonder how this compares to the Pink Beach bronzer? Have you picked the latter up?

This look nice! I might try it – I own Guerlain’s Terracota Nourishing Dry Oil – it was super expensive, $60 bucks. This might be a nice affordable dupe.

What did you use to apply it? Your hands? I might be purchasing one of these kinds of products this year and I am curious on how best to apply this stuff. Thanks!
