Are You Misting Yourself Madly or Is It Madly Misting Yourself? How Many Facial Mists Are in Your Beauty Stash Anyway?

At some point, someone will pop into my bathroom, bedroom, or fridge and see the lot of facial mists I’m hoarding and call me out on it.

Normally it begins with, “WTF!?”

And ends with me explaining how I REALLY need all these facial mists, how they are so essential to my beauty regime, how my skin might shrivel off my face and die if I don’t mist it madly…

How many facial mists does one beauty junkie need anyway?

I won’t throw a number out there, less you think I’m mad, but it’s a lot.

I store ’em in the fridge, have them on my vanity, in my bathroom, on my end table, in my tote and purse…I just mist a lot.

And honestly, I dunno if I’m doing any great benefits to my skin at all but it’s just become a habit, a bit of an addiction but maybe we shouldn’t go THAT far….

I feel like Peter O’Toole in Supergirl, “Won’t you have a squirt?” Except I’m madly whispering, “Won’t you have a mist?!”

So do you mist?

How many do you have at the moment?

When or what do you use them for?

Do share!

I have 3, 2 are the same but different packaging (hadanomy) 1 I never use! I use the hadanomy before/after the bath…before my skincare…to set powder if it looks too powdery…and the one at work if I need to freshen up a bit or my face feels dry.

Facial mists are the bomb. I prefer to take my toners and decant them into misting bottles and either spray them onto a cotton pad or right onto my face because they’re so easier to use that way. I use a really great facial mist made by Reviva Labs called “Rosewater Facial Spray” that is chock-full of hyaluronic acid just like the prestige brands but is cheap as chips as you like to say. You can find it at http://www.vitacost.com.

    • the Muse

;-D michelle love you for picking up my dumb catch phrases. will have to check out this rosewater facial spray! sounds good!

    • blu3java

hey michelle, i looked up that spray on the vitacost site and hyaluronic acid is not listed in the ingredients. did they reformulate?

      • Michelle

I just looked at my bottle now and Hyaluronic Acid is listed as the 5th ingredient. I did go to the company’s website http://www.revivalabs.com and the product is listed there with Hyaluronic Acid on the ingredient list. I’m sure if you contact them for specifics they would be happy to help, the Reviva brand has been around for ages in the health food stores and has a very good reputation. If you decide to buy get it from a website like vitacost though, it’s much cheaper than the Reviva website. Good luck! 🙂

The only “mists” I really have used regularly and repurchased are the Lush toners. I’ve tried many of the ones you have picture but I get bored or use them too fast.

  • Daniela

Currently I have 5..UD all nighter, Skindinavia makeup fix, derma e hyaluronic mist, some lavender toner one from Whole foods and my prized l’occitane sun verbena mist I love this so freaking much and I have no idea if they will re-release it. Honestly Muse it was you who turned me onto mists so you’ve got at least one convert there:) And of all the things to hoard this isn’t a bad one.You could have collectthemallitis with Rouge Bunny Rouge liquid highlighters or something else hideously overpriced. I say enjoy the addiction…

  • Liz!

True story……I’ve never misted ever before!!!!! I have oily skin so I feel like aside from an oil controlling spray like all nighter they might not do anything for me? And plus I think it would freak me out. One time I misted my toner on my face after the gym to see what it felt like (and clean up lol) and I didn’t like that it got on my eye area. I’m just weird I guess 😀

  • Emily

Beautiful collection! Maybe face misting is like applying chapstick/lip balm for some? 😛

By the way, how often would you say you mist your face? Do you keep one at work?

    • the Muse

hi emily! yeah lol something like that ;-D I do it after my shower in the morning and in the evening prior to my nighttime regime. I don’t really do it at work, I hate misting on top of makeup ;-D occasionally in the Summer I carry mist with me and use it at the end of a work day when I’m heading out for an evening just to refresh up my face, i find it eases dullness slightly.

What is the difference between a mist and a spray toner? I have just the one Lush “Breath of Fresh Air” and it seems to work for me. However, those Skin Food ones look mighty interesting… So hard to resist the lure of Asian skincare >.<

    • the Muse

toner has more ingredients than a mere spray mist which is typically thermal water. Agreed, Asian skincare is terribly hard to resist ;-D

  • eva

hehe i only have 2. i keep the caudalie beauty elixir next to my bed to use if i’m too lazy to moisturize at night. and i have a korean one that i use over my makeup to bring back some moisture if i’ve powdered too much.

  • Monica

    Hi Muse!

Which one of your mists would you recommend for dry skin?

  • Tamara

When I read this I thought of Doctor Who: “moisturize me, moisturize me!”

  • germs

i have two mists that i love – one’s the Vichy thermal spray for those times when my skin gets irritated, and the other for anti-aging (Ole Henriksen african red tea mist).

i spot the caudalie one on your table, which i’ve been meaning to try but it’s frightfully expensive here in Singapore 🙁 which one do you love the most?

      • rose

woot for the caudalie. love how it’s exactly right to set makeup without smearing it and really does improve skin. (which it better at the price, but it’s so much better than setting w powder when weather or skin are dry)

  • Michelle

I mainly buy toners and put them into misting bottles because they’re just that more fun to apply when they’re misty! 8D

Out of your misters, which one is your favorite, Muse?

  • Sarah S.

At my peak I only had Model in a Bottle, MAC Mineralize Charged Water, Urban Decay All-Nighter makeup setting spray, some sample I can’t recall the name of, and a mini Make Up Forever mist & fix… I really only need them to keep makeup from sliding off my oily face!

  • Cj

After an unfortunate incident with my dad and a lush shower jelly, I was forced to get a small fridge for my room where I keep all my lush stuff, mists, etc. My favorite most right now is the one from La Roche Posay, it’s cheap only $12 and you get a big amount 5oz, and drum roll please! It’s an aerosol spray 🙂

    • emi

Hahaha I want to hear this ill fated story of your dad and some lush shower jelly.

  • Angela Hall

I have the MAC one of course and Urban Decay my FAVE though is the one by Benefit in the blue retro bottle Radiance something? Anyway it smell like laundry out on the line… I love it

  • D-tan

I use 2 at the moment (UD All Nighter and MAC Fix+), but I just bought 2 new ones today since Daiso Japan just opened in my town! They’re cheap at $1.50 each and I got a collagen mist and a hyaluronic acid mist.

  • christmas

I have the hadanomy one and I use it a lot on days I don’t wear makeup.
I’m worried about using it over makeup because I think it might make my foundation do weird things.
I just really like the smell of it… bug spray lol

The asian market near my house just started carrying the My Beauty Diary Sleeping Concentrate. I’m just waiting for them to stock other MBD skincare… like the cleansers or mist.

  • Fuu

I have the same Shiseido skin water suppli+ that you have. I use it in the summer time. It is a great refresher!

  • emi

Muse I’m brand new to the misting world although I love asian beauty and recently picked up the caudalie mist, which I LOVE. Please do a post on mists for noobs! I’m trying to catch up by going through your reviews but ahh! What do you recommend for combination skin?

  • Saara

What’s your fave mist muse? Or which one doyou use the most? I tried the caudalie and it feels amaaazing, but it broke me out 🙁 so I switched to avene’s spray 🙂
