I hear you, CJ. I always crack up at the Garnier Sleek and Shine commercials. I think they’ve updated their percentage to 97%, but when it was 85% (or whatever it used to be), I would scoff and call it a winter shampoo and conditioner.

    • Ruth

Well, they didn’t say that it worked with the humidity index of a bajillion percent!

Seriously. I think all of us Floridians with oily skin need to come together and create some makeup products that will ACTUALLY work for us!

  • Kira

Yeah, speaking as a resident of Hong Kong with extremely oily skin, I doubt that this is going to work for me…

Very excited to check this out. I’ve been dragging my feet on trying the acne solutions foundation, but if this is a similar coverage to Mat Velvet + (or even slightly lighter), it’ll replace it.

I work for clinique and had tried this makeup. I’m skin type 4 (oily all over). This makeup has almost the same texture and coverage as MAC Studio Sculpt. Absolutely none of the color shades matched me. I tried this foundation alone, with a primer, with powder, and with my Urban Decay Deslick spray. Oil still broke through after a few hours in only 75F weather. I’m so sad.

aw sorry to hear it Samantha! thanks for sharing with us, def helpful!

Well, boo. I guess I’ll use up the rest of my Mat Velvet + and not repurchase and just stick with my Lancome Teint Idole Ultra. I don’t know why I’m so dead set on owning more than one bottle of foundation at a time, especially when it takes me so long to go through a bottle! Thanks for the info, Samantha.

Also what’s annoying is that usually people with very oily skin also have breakout concerns (such as I) so it boggles my mind that it isn’t a full coverage foundation. It’s marketed as ‘moderate to full’ I guess because you can build it up in the areas where more coverage is needed. I just feel like I’ll never find an oil free, full coverage foundation for VERY oily skin. Dangit.

I feel the exact same way :[ I have a couple more to try (MUFE Mat Velvet specifically) but it seems like it is a, literally, never-ending search. I really loved MAC Matchmaster, but it broke me out and the process of allowing it to adjust to my skintone was a nightmare. The coverage was great, it lasted 6 hours before oil started to break through, and it matched my skintone perfectly. Anyway, point being, give it a shot if you haven’t already because it was pretty awesome.

Have you tried estee lauder double wear? I have very oily acne proned skin with acne scarring and a birthmark. I havent broken out with it and it doesnt slide off! I live in tx so its really warm and if i need a little xtra help i use murad mattifier mixed w my primer.

  • Jules

they need to come to Houston, Tx and try that during the summer. We’d loove an 88 degree summer day! 🙂

  • Guida

I’ve only tried it once but I loved the results. I didn’t have to use any kind of powder and didn’t have to retouch during the day. I also loved the fact that it is matte indeed, but it doesn’t look fake.

  • Becca

oooh, yes please! The first face makeup product I ever used was Clinique’s tinted moisturizer. While I loved how it looked and felt on my skin, it didn’t do a thing to control my oily skin. Really hoping that this product will be it though. I am reaaally needing a new foundation for summer

  • Adrienne

I think my main concern with this foundation is the color matching. I’ve always avoided Clinique’s foundations bc none of them ever match my skin color. Tan/beige = orange according to Clinique.

  • Teiva

I have tried this foundation as well. I only have combination skin and it works quite well for that..but I can’t imagine it working well for very oily skin. It also looks kind of cruddy on the skin right when you put it on..but after an hour and more it settles and looks a lot more natural. I rater like it for my 37 year old combo skin, though. All of Clinique’s other foundations make me oily!
