My Beauty Diary Vanilla Souffle Face Scrub Review

My Beauty Diary Vanilla Souffle Face Scrub why you so cute for?

My Beauty Diary introduced this little face peel a while ago but I never got around to reviewing it. Lucky enough they continue to release cute little skincare products here and there which I’m loving as they originally started out as a line of facial sheet masks only.

The brand is Taiwanese so not readily available at your local CVS but it’s easy enough to locate online for fairly close to retail prices as well as in smaller Asian beauty shops if you live in a heavily Asian populated neighborhood or city.

Let’s take a peek!

They dub this a scrub but it’s actually a peel. Peels and scrubs are technically the same thing in Asia. Many exfoliators on the Asian market come in a gel format of some sort and have a peeling effect versus the grainier scrubs you’d find here in the American market. Cure Natural Aqua Gel is probably one of the most hyped up products in this realm however My Beauty Diary goes with a foaming mousse style formula versus a traditional gel one.

You’ll want to use this on a clean, dry face. I typically wash my face as normal, dry it, and pump out a small bit of foam and apply. You’ll massage it into your skin gently and it’ll begin to peel or pill off in tiny flakes or balls (you can see this in my photos below). Some folks claim this is dead skin cells but personally I think it’s just the how the formula breaks down. If that’s dead skin, whoa is all I can say.

The formula is a foaming mousse that breaks down easily as you massage. It’s supposed to gently exfoliate away dry skin but sadly it doesn’t quite work as well as Cure’s Natural Aqua Gel. It leaves my skin very tight after use as well.

I do recommend it for oily, sensitive skin as it’ll mattify as well as gently exfoliate your skin without the harsher grainier texture other exfoliates have.

I was a little disappointed it didn’t smell like Vanilla Souffle! It’s simply a fresh scent.

Overall, it’ll work a treat for oily, sensitive skin but drier skin will definitely need a facial scrub with more power.

Sasa.com carries much of the My Beauty Diary Collection as well as AlphabeautyUK on E-bay who has this for $7.

Hi Jess. I appreciate you have it available for swap but if you can keep it to makeup forums, MUA, etc…I’d appreciate it. I don’t want to involve Musings in swaps and such nor do I want it to be a place to advertise products others have for swap. I hope that’s ok! thanks!

I don’t know about this one but I know for a fact that the little flakes from cure’s are really dead skin. First thing I Tried when I got my first bottle was putting a pump on the counter and rubbing it in with a glove on, no flakes at all!

I recently bought the little kit (sweet teatime mini set) and i had no idea how i shoul use them… so thank you for the review 😀

I picked up the tea time set in Malaysia last summer and have been hoarding the sheet masks like it’s my job 🙂 This little peel, however, doesn’t do me much good, but the packaging is sooooo darn cute that I am planning on hoarding/hanging onto it for the drier months when normal scrubs can feel too harsh. Thanks for the review, Muse!

OMG. I used the entire bottle of this stuff like a face scrub in the shower on my wet face (though didn’t know why it lacked scrubbing particles) and just thought it didn’t work >_<
