Sephora True Cream Lip Color Sweet Embrace, Sunset Rhythm, I’ll Lead Review & Swatches

Sephora has introduced a range of True Cream Lip Colors in tangerine inspired shades to go along with their big Pantone trend at the moment.

I picked these up because they were madly inexpensive at $12 and I was curious if they’d suit me.

Take a look!

For $12, you won’t find a nice more generously size lipstick to indulge it if you’re on a budget and looking to embrace the orange tangerine trend.

These are super pigments with a soft, smooth easy glide across lips. They are extra creamy and have a vibrant color pay off that can’t be beat. If I’m being honest the quality far out weights the small $12 price tag.

The casing is even nice with a weighty feel and a simple, understated black tubing. However, just a note, these aren’t travel friendly in my opinion due to a fault in the the cap not closing tightly enough. The cap has a magnetic closure that clicks when in place when you cover the lipstick but it is very loose so it will potentially come undone should you toss this in your makeup bag or purse.

The creamy texture of the lipstick has a lightweight, emollient feel that keeps lips feeling nicely hydrated through the wear. For a cream lipstick I felt they wore rather nicely without accentuating dryness or causing it.

Sadly, only one of the three shades worked for me so I only took photos of the other two shades rather than swatch them as I will be returning them.

The shade that worked best for me was Sweet Embrace which is a bright peachy coral. Sunset Rhythm was straight on orange and I’ll Lead was more of a subdued off shade of peach.

Faulty packaging aside, these are a quite a nice lipstick deal so if you’re looking for a few shades of peach, orange-y goodness to try out for Summer I’d suggest checking Sephora out for your fix. Great quality lipstick although I would recommend they do something about the packaging as most of us do carry around lipstick with us and these have the potential to create a mess in our bags.

I’d been wanting Sephora lipsticks for a while, until I went to Sephora Kuala Lumpur 6 mo ago. I found that they are very pigmented & bright, which in a way good coz u only need to swipe once then there’s the colour but it also means it will take ages on me to finish that one lipstick. I dont know if its the colours that they have there in Kuala Lumpur for KL market or in general Sephora actually makes pigmented lipsticks.
Anyway, Sweet Embrace looks awesome on u, Muse. I wonder how the swatches go with the other 2 colours.

I can’t rock orange at all on my lips but I think I’ll pick up I’ll Lead. Doesn’t seem that hard to pull off!

  • Ryou

Can be a spoiled reader and request a swatch of I’ll Lead and Sunset Rhythm? I’m nowhere near a Sephora at the moment, and my poor husband is clueless about color description.

    Thank you!

Oooooh I bought Sunset Rhythm and I have to say it looks a lot less scary on the lips than it looks on the tube. ^_^ Its not that the lipstick is sheer….. (cause it’s NOT) but it just not a creamy orange, so it just looks like a really pretty orange with a hint of coral….I love how it looks on my skin!!! But…I have to admit that I am basically brown colored so that might make a difference. Still, I’m really loving the color and the feel of the lipstick. I kind of want to go get Sweet Embrace now that I saw it on you!! Hehehe!
