St. Ives Scrub Free Exfoliating Pads Review

I was able to finally locate the new St. Ives Scrub Free Exfoliating Pads. None of the drugstores in New York seem to have these so I grabbed them from Drugstore.com finally as Ulta.com had sold out.

Let’s take a look!

This is a tub of sixty exfoliating pads that are pre-soaked with Lactic Acid and Glycerin. The solution is paraben-free and safe fo daily use, St. Ives recommends using twice daily.

They have a fresh almost fruity scent that I found very pleasant but I do wonder about how much fragrance is in the mix here as the scent is fairly strong so sensitive skin might not be overjoyed by the fragrance.

The pads are very nicely saturated in a smooth, soft cotton fiber. I’d probably have preferred a quilted design for these as it insures you’ll exfoliate with not only the formula that saturates each pad but also the quilted design will aid in swiping away dry areas.

These leave skin feeling very refreshed and gently hydrated however after two weeks or so of daily use I’m not really seeing smoother, brighter skin so I imagine the amount of Lactic Acid per pad isn’t terribly impressive. If you’re replying on them solely to remove dry, patchy areas I think they might prove disappointing likewise for revealing brighter skin.

They are quite nice for smoothing on prior to moisturizer and foundation as they ease the way for both products and allow them to absorb and apply easier.

I didn’t expect much for five dollars though however they are worth purchasing if you typically tone prior to moisturizer and/or foundation as they work great as a prep prior to other steps in your regime.

I’ve been using them right now and I really like them. I’ve gone from a really hardcore regime to really gentle products, and I’m finally seeing a positive difference. Between this and my Simple products, I’m starting to see my skin calm down. I’ve also noticed this makes a HUGE difference on the appearance of my neck, since it’s saturated enough to get your whole face and your neck. I’m going to keep using them!

I was shocked @ how easy these were to find @ my local walgreens. I agree that it would be nice if they were quilted. I like them, but havent noticed any brightening – and I don’t have rough patches, so cant really attest to that either.

I have these and like them a lot. They don’t irritate my temper tantrum throwing skin and they are nice in the evening after scrubbing up.

I haven’t really used them consistently, but one pad is enough for my face/neck and chest and the back of my hands.

I like what these exfoliating pads are doing for my skin. I use them nightly and I do see brighter, more even-toned skin in the morning. They have given me a nice glow. They are mild and play nice with my sometimes sensitive, sometimes tolerant skin (FWIW, my skin type is pretty normal, with just the slightest bit of oil around sides of nose and tiny bit on my chin) The smell is kinda…weird. A bit like self-tanning cream. Not so overwhelming that I would stop using, but sensitive sniffers might not tolerate the smell very well. All in all, I’d give these a grade of “B” for what I’ve seen them do for my skin. Still love my PTR Unwrinkle pads and Avon’s peel pads (sorry, the exact name escapes me), but for $5 at the drugstore it’s a good product (for me at least!) 🙂
