Tarte Gifts from the Lipstick Tree Achiote Color Collection Review & Swatches
Tarte Gifts from the Lipstick Tree Achiote Color Collection Review is turning into my new favorite collection for Summer 2012. I’m a matchy match kinda girl so having a set with blush, lipgloss, and a lip tint all in the same shade, well, that has my name written all over it.
The collection features three full size products in a brand new shade (brand new for many but not so new for QVC junkies as the shade was available before in a gift set) entitled Achiote.
Achiote literally is a reference to the “lipstick tree” as it is a common treat that grows in the tropical regions of South America and is dubbed the lipstick tree due to the natural pigment produced from the seeds it bears. The women of Brazil use this pigment to enhance their natural beauty.
As with most Tarte products the formula is paraben and mineral free.
Gotta love that.
Considering a single blush is $25 and a gloss $21 this is a nice little set that includes three products for $42 that fair outweight the cost per an item.
Let’s take a look!
Tarte’s description is a little misleading on the Amazonian Clay Blush in Achiote as they dub it a shimmering golden pink. Eep! Guys, don’t tease me like that. I expected shimmer but the shade is a matte finish like the regular collection. Considering what success I’ve had with those already I wasn’t too troubled. I find Tarte’s matte formula blends easily, isn’t chalky, and has a fine, silky texture. Matte blushes can go a little clown-y and patchy on my drier skin but I find Tarte’s formula easy to work with and it blends out seamlessly plus let’s not forget to mention it is loaded with pigment.
There aren’t any dupes available of the shade in the catalog already in my opinion so the shade is unique. In the pan it seems like a warm beige peach but on my skin it comes across a cooler peachy coral with hints of pink.
The set also includes Maracuja Divine Shine Lip Gloss in Achiote. I’ve review Maracuja Divine Shine Lip Gloss in a past post but a brief recap…this is quite a thick, sticky gloss with a lovely wear time. I think it’s safe to say the shade Achiote is my new favorite color, this one definitely needs to be added to the general catalog. It’s a golden peachy coral that has a bit of tropical punch element to it, that’s what I feel like when I look at it.
And finally LipSurgence Lip Luster in Achiote embodies the shade the best for me and really brings it all together. I love these Lip Lusters as the have a slick, balm-y texture that hugs lips in just the right amount of moisture with great color pay off.
Overall, Tarte Gifts from the Lipstick Tree Achiote Color Collection captures the spirit of the Summer season for me. The shade is terribly difficult to describe but I’d go with glistening golden peachy pink with hints of coral. It’s fairly unique and you probably don’t have many shades in your collection that resemble it, that alone makes this collection a win.
Loves it.
