Beauty Blast from the Past: Stila All Over Crystals Palette

Some folks collect coins, some stamps…as for me, I collect makeup.

I have quite a few older palettes that I’m unable to use due to their expiration dates but I find I can’t part with them. It’s a disease I tell ya.

One such palette is the Stila All Over Crystals Palette.

Does anyone even remember this?

This was one of Stila’s fails as it simply seemed like Vaseline with small chunky pieces of glitter thrown into the mix.

Do take note of the old slim line compact that Stila used to embrace. I absolutely loved these compacts, it’s a shame Stila doesn’t embrace them anymore as they have a nice bit of weight behind them and store easily.

The soft pastel shades in the palette are very pretty but I found them a bit useless as a face highlighter, which they were meant for, as the formula was terribly sticky.

Does anyone remember this palette?

I think I got it back in 2003 and I THINK it was part of a Spring Collection but I could be wrong…..

What’s the oldest piece of Stila makeup in your stash?

Oh my gosh, this has just reminded me of a dream (nightmare?) I had last night where my whole lipstick collection had started to mold. You know you’re a beauty addict when… you have nightmares about losing your stash.

wow those are so prettty, and I love that packaging. I’ve never really gotten into stila, I have a palette from 2011 LOL not as old as the 2003!!

  • Carla

I have a palette that looks like that but the shades are pearly pastels. So pretty.

I used to have this palette, it was pretty bad. I got rid of my Cruise to Cairo blush duo a few months back. The texture had changed. It had to been over 10 years old. I do wish Stila would go back to the metal palettes. Those were nice.

I hate how palettes like this lure me in with the promise of “oooh, shiny!” when really it’s just glittery face gunk.

I had the little square blue container with stars all over, the clear gold flaked one looks exactly it! The gold flakes were beautiful! I held onto mine for a long time just to admire it, I think I threw it away this year! If they make this again I want it!

nik I don’t know that one….it sounds familiar but not sure!

I have a concealer stick from Stila that I bought 7 odd years ago….and I’m still using it. It hasn’t given me any problem but I should probably let it go….

I have a couple of MAC lippies and e/s from the late 90’s and I know I have said this before but some items from the Max Factor collection for Titanic. I found a bunch of old Maybelline nail polishes from the late 90’s just recently as well in my storage space. OH and some UD from 98? 99? Good Times, Good Times..

lol fox I really wish you’d take pics of that titanic stuff and send it! I NEED to see ;D

I didn’t ever buy that palette, but I have plenty of stila. I remember when they made palettes like this once or twice a year? I still have one (I guess I’m a makeup hoarder too) from Nordstrom’s yearly beauty thing. It had some pretty shadows, a lip stick, a gloss, and a well that I imagine held a lip brush (it’s long since disappeared). They were fantastic for sliding into a bag and being able to update makeup (like day to night or what have you). Nice heft and not a single time had one of those suckers open in my bag.

Mac Factor for Titanic was a good collection!
Oh Muse! I’m glad to know I’m not the only one who misses old Stila. At the risk of sounding like one of those people who ramble about the good old days, I miss old Stila, and their giant holiday sets.
I remember waiting for this to come out and being bummed with the consistency. I was expecting it to be more pigmented and blend able like a guerlain cream meteorites kit I wanted but couldn’t afford the price as I had already splurged on Hard Candy’s new collection at the time.
