About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Hmmmm, primer might be worth a shot. I tend to have a high gloss finish in the summer and powder/blotting only do so much. I’ll probably give this a whirl.

both are super interesting. i am running out of my mufe hd powder so if the powder is a winner i’d be saving myself some money. let me know when you get your hands on it for a review!!!

They had me at mattifying! I just finished 1.5 rounds of Accutane and I still have crazy oily skin! I will definitely be picking this up for the summer. Still looking for a well priced TM that won’t break the bank. 🙂

Tohnia, I would love to hear about your experience with Accutane. I’ll be going on it soon!

Muse, This looks promising! I may pick the powder up when I pick up their MAC MSF dupe!

Honestly, the dryness you’ll experience is EXTREME. Keep lipbalm with you at all times! I found that Jack Black worked best for me. Other people have had luck with Aquaphor, but I couldn’t get it in Canada. So I used Jack Black and it worked the best. I tried SO MANY lip balms before I found it!

If you’ll be using Accutane into the winter, you HAVE TO layer your moisturizers! Like I said, I live in Canada, and I used Bio Oil under my usual winter moisturizer just so my skin didn’t feel so dry. Rose Bud Salve is also handy to keep in your purse in the winter just in case you have a cold. All that sneezing and blowing of your nose does a number on your already dry Accutaned skin. Layering skin moisturizers is a good idea also. I used baby oil in the shower and Jergens Replenishing Lotion with Vitamin E overtop. It REALLY helped with the dryness.

Otherwise, keep a good hand cream with you. Something hydrating but light. And in the summer, use a good sunscreen! You’ll be more prone to sunburn. Drinking alot of water helps with the dryness also.

Honestly, if I had to do it all over again, I would! I didn’t have terrible acne, I mainly had alot of whiteheads/blackheads with some inflamed areas, but my acne was extremely resistant to anything I tried. I used pills, birth control, creams, over the counter lotions…you name it, I probably tried it! Accutane was my last resort. I used it with Diane 35 and my skin is AMAZING now. I still get the rare whitehead, but its barely noticeable and goes away pretty quickly. It also dried up all the scarring I had (super delicate skin, I scar VERY easily). It gave me self-confidence, and brand new skin! I can now go without makeup most days, or get away with just concealer and powder now. The only residual effects I have are dry lips. I didn’t suffer any depression luckily. The only sucky part is the monthly blood tests. For me, they had the bonus side effect of catching my extremely low iron levels before I became anemic. I’m still on the borderline of anemia, but they caught it in time and i’m on iron supplements.

Good luck with Accutane, I hope you’re one of the success stories!

I’d be willing to give them a go. Worried about the powder making me look ashy though.
