Bobbi Brown Instant Pretty Collection Review & Swatches

You have to ask yourself how much make up do you really need? Particularly when you’re as big a beauty junkie as I am. But hey, we all have our vices, I just have too many haha (makeup, manga, comic books, games, books…eep!).

The thing is when I originally saw the Bobbi Brown Instant Pretty Collection on QVC I had to ask myself if I really needed it but after I got it I was happy I decided to purchase it as it contains such classical pieces of makeup that are truly practical and pretty for simple, natural looks.

Take a look!

The set was originally introduced as a QVC Today’s Special Value for $69.98 but it’s still available for $76.98 if you’d like to indulge.

It includes:

  • Bobbi Brown Sheer Pink Color Cheek Tint (glowing pink, exclusive shade to QVC)
  • Bobbi Brown Pretty In Pink Lip Gloss (sheer pink, exclusive shade to QVC)
  • Bobbi Brown Pink Lemonade Shimmer Lip Gloss (soft pink with pearlescent shimmer, exclusive to QVC)
  • Bobbi Brown Pink Bellini Long-Wear Cream Shadow (shimmery neutral, exclusive to QVC)
  • Bobbi Brown Lash Glamour Extreme Lengthening Mascara in Black
  • Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream
  • Bobbi Brown Face Palette

Many of these products I’ve reviewed on Musings before so I won’t go into great detail on each. But I did want to babble a little about a few things.

First off the Face Palette is fabulous. I originally thought this was Bobbi’s concealer palette which I own, love, and can’t live without. However, this differs in the fact that it includes Bobbi’s concealer and corrector as well as setting powder for each but also her stick foundation. I took note that the concealers in this palette are considerably more dense and less creamy than Bobbi’s original concealer formula. Did anyone notice this? I didn’t mind in the least though. The drier, less creamy formula actually blends fairly easily and conceals issues without a hiccup. I also enjoyed the foundation stick with you can swipe a brush in, apply, blend, and go.

Bobbi Brown Face Palette in Sand

The palette is just a gem because it manages to create, fresher more flawless skin in a snap. It’s lightweight coverage that eases dullness and perfects skin. Think of it as your skin but oh so much better. As I mentioned I already own the concealer palette but this is nice since it covers all aspects of your face not just your eyes. I’ll be on holiday soon and this is the perfect travel companion particularly since I’ll be in San Diego and the weather just makes you feel like your face is melting off so this is ideal for a natural look without over doing things. On that note, let’s face it, the entire kit is minimal makeup at its best.

Another item that actually captured my interest was the generously sized eye cream. This is the only product that isn’t full size however, there’s enough to last you a good long time. I never tried Bobbi Brown Eye Cream before so this was a delightful surprise. It’s so creamy, almost gel-like in consistency and blends so easily. It’s the perfect prep for concealer. I’ll be purchasing a large jar of this shortly. Absolutely adore it.

Overall, I think Instant Pretty should appeal to Bobbi fans in a major way but I strongly recommend it for those who never tried Bobbi Brown before. It’s a nice kit for younger women who are just now experimenting with makeup as it keeps things simple and pretty plus it’s such a snap to apply. This isn’t a rocket scientist type of makeup experience, it’s just a swipe, blend, go! More mature women will also love the simplicity of it all. I loved it!

Got this in porcelain which is perfect for my not quite NC15 coloring. Added bonus was my mom telling me my face how pretty I looked when I first wore it. She rarely comments on my new makeup, so the colors must do something. I did need more coverage for my severe rosacea (which I knew before purchase), but love the little palette for touch ups.

    • the Muse

aw awesome trish ;-D it really does create a nice flawless finish right? *nods* yeah, it’s sheer to medium but redness it might not do the trick. try concealing to redness prior to foundation application or use a green base of some sort.

I didn’t get this, but I do have her foundation stick her porcelain peach corrector which is easily one of my favorite concealers. The foundation stick is more coverage than I’d like but what I do is draw a couple lines on my face, and then take that short blue flat kabuki from physicians formula and buff it in, it sheers out the coverage 🙂

waw its looks amazing the colors also nice, everything looks so chic

It looks like an awesome value! As a BB devottee, I would recommend for a first time BB user: skin foundation, pot rouge, and if you can only buy one product from her line, buy lip shine– thats what got me hooked, for sure! The products Im not too keen on: the sheer blush stick, and the xtra moisturizer ( the strong scent is awful!)

  • Tammie

Your mention of manga reminded me–have you been watching Sakamichi no Apollon? It just ended but oh man it is so great, I need to get the manga series soon!

  • Tammie

Btw this set looks great! It’s not exactly for me, but if I was a makeup beginner or only wore a little like you said I would totally love the heck out of this set.

  • sara

I also bought this in sand, and love it! These are my first BB products:) I’m glad you like this set. A lot of the QVC reviews complained about the small sizes. I thought it was a good value(I just hate shipping & tax…lol) How much do those ladies think this set should cost? haha!

    • the Muse

I thought so too sara b/c the concealer palette is typically $60-$70 dollars on qvc ;-D

  • Brooke

Wow…I think I need (want) this! To be honest, I’ve never technically purchased or tried BB products. A few years back, I was walking through Nordstrom and wanted to try some of her foundation. A lady TRIED to color match me but gave up after 2 swatches and says “we just don’t carry your color, sorry”. Really? Really? Unfortunately, she was the only one working the counter, so ever since then I’ve been a bit jaded – granted it’s not BB’s fault, but I’ve held it against them since! lol Perhaps I need to discover what I have been missing all of the years and stop being so stubborn!

    • the Muse

ewwwwwwwwwww seriously?! wth!? So sorry Brooke! that’s awesome! 🙁 Bobbi is awesome and sad to hear that happen to you! go to another counter girl!

  • chelle

I’d just throw in an eyeshadow/liner stick and that would make the perfect travel set. The face palette is just so convenient.

  • Janine

New to Bobbi Brown and bought this set with your recommendation even thou I am older * cough 44 on the 4th cough* although I will be passing several items to my niece, nice kit and know I know what alot of youtubers/bloggers say about Bobbi Brown – thanks

This kit is taking a hit on QVC reviews for the sizes of the products. I watched the presentations and was prepared for a “To Go” kit. Like you I will be traveling in a week and thought this would be perfect to take along. The only thing that is small is the face palette, the rest are full sizes for BB. Her products are concentrated and I typically use much less than in other brands. The face palette won’t last long if it is used for my full face every day. This palette is a travel companion of the products I use on my face in the morning, so perfect for me. Bobbi demonstrated the blush over powder, but I was skeptical. I tried it yesterday and it worked well, and lasted through a hot day moving files in a school office. I love the look that this kit provides, a perfect classic, pulled together, me but much better look that is perfect for summer and beyond!

    • the Muse

i didn’t feel like it was a bad deal tbh wendy particularly taking the face palette into consideration which typically has a $60-$70 price tag (the concealer one anyway) when qvc has it in stock. So I didn’t feel bad at all. It seemed like an awesome little set. so glad to hear it. I think it’s ideal for light, natural makeup ;-D particularly during hot days!

How exciting! I am in SD so maybe I’ll run into you at a makeup counter somewhere 😛 And yes, I LOVE Bobbi’s eye creams–specifically the EXTRA one. They’re so rich and hydrating yet light and refreshing. Love

  • Mindy

I totally agree with the suggestion of this for first timemBB products. This was my first BB purchase and I’m loving it! However I kinda with the made it a concealer for the rest of the face instead of the foundation.

  • Sim

Hey! Just recently discovered your blog. I really like it. I was wondering if you could recommend me a good concealer that doesn’t crease, has high pigmentation (my dark circles are too dark) and lastly looks natural/almost natural.

    thank you 🙂

  • Angieluv

I was really kicking myself for not purchasing this at the lower TSV price. I went to purchase it today, and spent some time reading the reviews. Just over 30% of the reviewers on QVC would recommend this to a friend!!! So glad I read the reviews- Ithink I would rather spend my money at the Bobbi Brown counter on fewer full sized products. Many of the negatives were about the small sized products, and the colors geared towards teenage girls.

The auto delivery date for this is coming up. Does anyone know what the new colors will be?
