Clinique Superbalanced Powder Bronzer Review & Swatches

This was provided to me by a brand for review but all opinions expressed are my own

Clinique takes the packaging concept behind its Superbalanced Powder Makeup and incorporates it into their new Superbalanced Powder Bronzer.

At the time of Superbalanced Powder’s release, I do believe that this style packaging was an entirely new concept. A few brands have since adapted it as well such as NYX with their grinder blushers. I’m unsure how folks feel about “grinding” their own powder but I generally like the idea. It allows you a perfectly portioned amount, no more, no less plus since the formula is a pressed “puck” so to speak it allows the product to remain fresher for longer since you’re grinding off a little at a time.

Let’s take a peek at the new Clinique Superbalanced Powder Bronzer.

Clinique Superbalanced Powder Bronzer comes packaged in a cute floral drawstring bag. Ugh way to slay my heart guys! I absolutely adore the little bag and find it very useful for tucking small makeup bits and bobs in for travel. It’s nice to get a little extra with your makeup purchase don’t you agree?

This bronzing powders has a smart advantage in the fact that it helps absorb oil through the wear so those with oily skin will appreciate it mattifying the areas you apply it to. I have drier skin but it applied smoothly on me without looking cakey or patchy. The formula has a soft, silky feel and it applies fairly easy however, it is quite pigmented so a lighter touch is needed for the best results. I recommend a larger, bushier brush which allows you to build slowly. I have a heavier hand and get a little crazy sometimes with powder products so I do have to take this very slowly for the best results.

The lightweight, oil free formula gives cheeks a deeper tanned look. This isn’t a look I favor so I didn’t really love the finish but if you like a deeper glow you’ll love it.

The powder is in a solid puck format with a grater attached that allows you to freshly grate loose bronzer for each application. This assures the powder remains fresh and stable for a longer period of time.

Shade 1

I’m not really one to migrate towards bronzers by choice especially matte ones like this so Clinique Superbalanced Powder Bronzer didn’t strike that deep a chord in my makeup loving soul but for those who adore bronzers I’m sure you’ll find no fault here. Packaging, formula, and price are all great to me!

I’d recommend purchasing it on counter or online at www.clinique.com so you can grab the cute makeup bag as this is sold at Sephora but no makeup bag boo!

I feel like every time I see a review, I get tempted to buy something! I’ve been hunting for a good bronzer though and I get quite oily in the summer so a matte one is definitely one I want.

Just wonder, do you think shade 1 or 2 would be better for medium-tan (I suppose NC-35ish?) skin? (My second foray into bronzer and seeing as how my first attempt saw me buying one that was close my actual skin tone…I need all the help I can get!)

Thanks a lot in advanced 🙂 And thanks for the review (the makeup bag is absolutely adorable)

This looks totally different on you/in person than it does on the clinique website. I think it’s a little too dark, so maybe you’re not heavy-handed, lol.
