Dr. Jart Black Label Detox BB Beauty Balm & Dr. Jart Renewalist BB Beauty Balm Debuts at Sephora

Some new skincare products as well as two new BB Creams from Dr. Jart will be popping up at Sephora shortly. Dr. Jart Black Label Detox BB Beauty Balm & Dr. Jart Renewalist BB Beauty Balm are the two newest BB Creams that will be available shortly.

Korean brand, Dr. Jart, has a cult following in Asia with great BB Cream options as well as skincare ones so I’m happy to see some of those options stemming out to the US market.

Let’s take a look at the newest offerings.

Dr Jart. Black Label Detox BB Beauty Balm $36
Perfect and protect (SPF 25) skin instantly with this all-in-one multifunctional Beauty Balm. This triple-action formula naturally covers blemishes and uneven skintone, and contains botanical actives to purify and calm blemish-prone or irritated skin. Arbutin works to erase unwanted dark spots, while caviar extract and antioxidants protect skin from inner and outer pollutants for an enhanced radiance. Lightweight with sunscreen protection for simple, one-step neutralizing coverage, this soothing cream delivers optimal results for both women and men.

Dr. Jart Renewalist BB Beauty Balm Renewalist BB Beauty Balm $36
Perfect and protect (SPF 40) skin instantly with this all-in-one multifunctional Beauty Balm. Renewalist BB’s natural-looking coverage evens skintone and minimizes the appearance of imperfections. Patented platol white-c complex brightens dull skin for a lustrous, youthful glow, while nutrient-rich exotic oils soothe dryness. The niacinamide strengthens skin’s moisture barrier, helping to boost collagen levels. Lightweight with sunscreen protection for an ideal base makeup application, this antiaging balm is sure to leave your skin refreshed.

Both labels are available in Korea, I don’t have my black label handy but I believe the SPF is higher on the one I have but don’t quote me there. I’m happy to see a BB Cream with higher SPF as the Renewalist formulation has a SPF 40. Nice!

Of course, there is a difference here in the price tag but not so much that it’s cringe worthy. Black label in Korea would set you back 36,000 won with Renewalist ranging at 25,000 won, this is around $30 and $21 USD.

Have you tried the Dr. Jart BB Creams already available at Sephora?

Did you like either?

I had ok experiences with both the Water Fuse Beauty Balm and Premium Beauty Balm.

Both the Black Label Detox BB and the Renewalist BB will be available shortly at Sephora and Sephora.com

I had a sample of the Water Fuse BB from my Birchbox and I really liked it. Might have to try these ones out.

Oooo! I’m intrigued by the Detox bb cream. I haven’t been interested in the bb cream craze (especially after you mentioned that U.S. bb creams are closer to tinted moisturizers than actual bb creams), and I already have my summertime foundation, but I might check it out anyway. Although I’m nervous about the glow claim. Anything described as “luminous” is usually disastrous on oily skin. I know I can use a mattifying powder to set it, but then what’s the point of using a foundation that makes you glow?

….I think I’ve put too much thought into this. lol Thanks for the post, Muse!

oh me too kb, anything glow or pearl makes my face look awesome. I have a fuller, rounder face and adding glow just makes it look AWFUL! most bb creams don’t have any glow or highlighting properties so you should be ok. Although you’ll want to look for a solid mattifying formula in a bb since they are very creamy and with oily skin things can get heavy quick! lol no I like hearing it ;-D

      my pleasure ;-D

I’ll have to give the Detox one a shot. I’ve only used Skin79 BB creams (love them) and was looking to beanch out. Also nice to know that the price isn’t that different. I’d end up spending $6 in shipping anyway so it end out. Nice to see a real BB release in America.

  • Cj

I have the water fuse, probably the best bb cream here in the US that I’ve tried, so I’m very interested in these 2. Hopefully at least one of em is light enough for me lol

    • Cj

Uhh Muse, I’m trying to look for reviews, the detox one umm is it called detox healing in the Asian brand? Or is that like a completely different one?

  • Deb

Hey Muse, Oh Great Goddess of BB Creams…do you have any info on whether or not these will have color options? I know BB creams are typically very limited in color selection, BTW, I tried the Dr Jart Premium when it hit Sephora. Shudder. Awful stuff. Sick gray color, never adjusted, heavy feel but dry, wouldn’t blend. Tried it 4 times and threw it away so hard…

    • the Muse

one shade only deb ;-D please call me by my given title Queen of BB Creams lol I’m kidding. aw sorry, I’d avoid these if you felt that way as black label is kinda whitening as well (that gray color you experienced). I’ll try to get a review for the black label up soon so you can see the good word.

      • Deb

Thank you 🙂 And I promise to address you by the correct title from here on out!!!!

        • the Muse

LOL ;-D <3! my pleasure...! happy weekend, gorgeous weather out there!

  • Lulubelle

I’m wondering if the BB creams marketed for blemish prone/oily skin have a lower SPF because of the sheen associated with SPF’s? I avoided sunscreens for the longest time because they made my oily skin look even oilier, but have finally caved and started wearing them.

The Skinfood BB cream I got is for oily skin and it only has an SPF of 20.

    • the Muse

mmm that’s funny I never thought of that lulu! I must say SPF formulation is considerably better in products (moisturizers, foundations, bb) within Asian than here in the US. every single product I buy with SPF here in the US is oily or it separates, etc…etc..just awful experience with it.

  • blue

i wonder how these compare to the updated korean versions. will you be trying the korean versions as well Muse?

      • blue

really!?!? you’ve tried the ones that were updated this year already? i put a link to the article that talked about updated ones in my previous comment but it’s not there anymore so i don’t know if you saw it or not. is there a way i can put links in? or i can email it to you. let me know.

  • Grace

OOoo I used to use Dr. Jart’s black label almost religiously before my hormones went nutes and went all psycho on my skin :/ Apart from the spf difference, is the black label detox BB the same as the original black label? Fingers crossed that it is!!

  • catazure

I really like the Dr. Jart water-fuse sample I had but bought the premium because it sounded better for my skin. Not. When you review these two would you compare them to the water-fuse, please? To me that is one of the nicest BBs I’ve ever applied.
Thanks, of Queen of the BBs!

    • the Muse

lol catazure….def not the queen but funny title hehe ;-D yup, will do!

  • Southern Gorgeous

OH I AM ALL OVER THE BLACK LABEL!! Good to see something that I can wear when I start my Accutane treatment that will give me spf, cover and start working on my scarring!

  • Nina

Greetings Queen Muse! I have tried the Dr. Jart Premium, and I liked the way it felt and looked at first, but after about an hour it was drying and blotchy looking. I want to get samples of the Water Fuse and the Dior one you raved about. I am very fair, so the color of the BB creams is not an issue, but I find that the way they feel and look on the skin changes so much more than regular foundations or tinted moisturizers. Any further word on the Bobbi Brown BB cream?

    • the Muse

hey nina lol no need for the queen! that was just a joke haha…! sorry to hear it..that sounds awful 🙁 how are you applying? I reviewed Bobbi’s a few weeks ago…I hear it is coming out sometime in June/July but no exact date yet!

  • SammyGirl

I just bought a tube of the Detox and water BB from Dr, Jart and one of the pore cleaners – I can let you know how it goes. I wanted to try it because I love riding my motorcycle in the summer and hate to have to put on make up or always touch it up. Helmets are not a girls best friend. So I figured let me try a beauty balm has I love the Benefit Pore canceler – I use it before I apply the make up.

  • Sudeki

I bought the detox version from a hk retailer which is just ten bucks, during their sale event.
I don’t have to pay shipping as they often offer free shipping.
It’s really nice, though I still prefer brtc aqua rush

  • Melissa

I love love LOVE the Black Label Detox BB Cream. It is the first BB cream I have tried and I am very impressed with it. I have acne-prone, sensitive combination skin with a lot of redness to cover and this does an amazing job 🙂
