How To Achieve Flawless, Poreless, Perfect Skin

Ahhh! A commonly asked question, “How can I have flawless, poreless, perfect skin?”

I don’t have larger pores and honestly, I feel like mine are non existent in some cases but as I got older and the more I used my Clarisonic I noticed that the ones around my nose have been glaring at me lately.

One thing that concerns me is I’d like my skin to look and feel smoother so that makeup appears more flawless and perfect. I’ve had makeup artists suggest powder for a perfect finish, primer, etc…etc…

I’ve never really found a product to create a perfect finish on my skin, ya know the one that gives you that smooth, photoshopped, I can’t believe how perfect your skin looks finish?

I want that.

Everyone does I think.

Here’s how to get it.

I raved it before and I’ll rave it again and if you don’t already own it, shame on you!

Flawless, poreless, perfect skin is easily enough to achieve thanks to Mally Poreless Face Defender Compact. I’ve reviewed it before and heck MAC even recently released their own version and Dior had one too (they may still have one?) but no one has created this product like Mally has.

Think of it as a silicone primer melted down, poured into a compact, and left to harden. That’s pretty much what Poreless Face Defender is. Unlike traditional primers you’ll be using Poreless Face Defender all over your face AFTER you have your makeup in place.

Simply do your makeup as you normally would. Foundation, eyeshadow, concealer, blush, etc…after everything is in place you can lock that makeup in place with this by smoothing it over your face with the included sponge. It instantly perfects and finishes your makeup leaving behind soft, smooth, flawless skin. It blurs the look of fine lines, pores, and gives skin a matte finish easing shine and oily.

I love how this perfects my face. It just creates this ethereal focus around my skin and makes so smooth.

If you don’t own it please get some, like now, YOU need this.

This has changed my world! My shiny nose used to be my arch nemesis and now we get along. Shine goes buh-bye and looks flawless. I pat on my t-zone and don’t love it under my eyes.. But it’s seriously a miracle.

    • the Muse

I use it on my nose too! creates a smooth, pore-free nose ;-D and yup, no shine! I love it under my eyes! why don’t you like it? I feel like it extends the wear of my concealer and makes my fine lines disappear.

      • Linda

I wish there was something for people that CAN”t use silicone heavy products

    • the Muse

nopeeeeeeeeeeeee! just creates this super smooth feel on skin, it’s INCREDIBLE!

  • Jayne

Okay, I might actually have to finally give this a shot (shame on me). However, I used silicone-based primer on under my makeup already. This may be a silly question, but would it be better to use a non-silicone primer with the Mally, or will they not interfere with each other?

    • the Muse

naa no issues at all! you can use your primer as always jayne! 😀

  • Deb

Oh, I’m intrigued by this! I have recently noticed larger pores. How long does it last? Even a couple hours would do the trick!

    • the Muse

I can get about four hours in deb before a touch up but oily skin might see around two to three I imagine.

  • Stephanie L.

Do you happen to know of what materials the sponges are made? Not latex I hope, I am allergic. I have this but have not used it, yet. Thanks for the reviews.

  • Cj

Oh Muse your so lucky 🙁 this summer my pores have just been such a pain, they’re ginormous and they keep getting clogged. I have to steam my face and use either the seikisho or shills mask every week 🙁

PS: Seriously people If you haven’t bought this yet go out and buy it now it’s beyond amazing.

  • Jessica Allison

This totally reminds me of Benefit Dr. Feelgood- which I still think I have around here somewhere 🙂 However, I (of course) checked the ingredients on the Mally version and was a little surprised to see that it’s nothing but silicones. Literally, nothing- no vitamins, mica, nothing. So for the price I have to wonder if it’s simply the method of patting it on over makeup that creates such amazing results. Believe it or not, a $6 tube of Monistat Chaffing Relief Powder-gel has most of the same ingredients. I wonder if anyone has compared?

    • nicolle

Yea, I was curious at first when I heard about this item but I don’t feel comfortable slathering silicone over my face, especially when I am sensitive to it & will likely break out.

  • Littlecreek

After? Now I’m just intrigued. So it’s like finishing powder/setting spray on steroids?

  • Kaitlin

I have super oily skin – do you think this will make me break out? Have you experienced any problems with that?

    • the Muse

I’m not sure kaitlin have you had issues with silicone before? I haven’t had a problem but my skin is dry not oily.

      • Kaitlin

No, I haven’t had problems with silicones…just oils! Thanks for your response!

        • the Muse

you should be ok kaitlin if you use a silicone based primer daily 🙂

  • LINDARRAGNAR

Dior still has a similar product – I’ve wanted to try it for ages now. This is less expensive though.

  • Laura

I have it – and I’m not that thrilled with it. It enhances the wrinkles under my eyes.

    • the Muse

my pleasure kim hope you’ll lmk what you think when you try!

  • Fancyprance

Just a heads up that this product is also available on Beauty.Com The size appears to be a little larger (.46 vs .41 from the Q). They also have free shipping ove $25, so it seems to be a little more wallet friendly. Either way, it is an awesome product, one I can’t live without!

    • Libby61

Thanks Fancy! Just bought this again (neices keep taking it from me 🙂 ) on Beauty.com. I also used Ebates and got an additional $5 off. Appreciate the post. I really love this product on my oily t-zone.

  • Simone Gamboa

If you order it from mallybeauty and get the skin prep kit- its 39.95 with free shipping, plus you get a small primer and a free lippie.
I am not sure if it is full size….but still worth the buy.

    • Littlecreek

Thanks for the heads up Simone! I ended up ordering this set since I’ve never tried any Mally products before. Now I get to try the primer, liquid lipstick & face defender. 🙂

  • Caroline

This looks incredible! Have you tried using it as a base under makeup, just out of curiosity?

    • the Muse

yeah but the effect isn’t as amazing caroline, def works best over makeup

  • Icequeen81

woow your review make me want it, but im outside the USA 🙁

  • LouAnne

This stuff does work very well..I have a combo skin, a very oily tzone and I can get about 2 hours of matte using this…. however, the travel compact is very cheaply made. I have had two of them and both have literally fallen apart in my hands after about a month of use… so I just keep trying to put them back together and use it until it dries out completely. If Mally would replace this compact or upgrade it or something, I would be a lot happier spending the money because I do like it but this is not an inexpensive product. s

  • Twirishlady

I got this just last week and am in love with it! My oily face has no chance against this magic! I don’t know how I ever survived without it 🙂

  • Crystal

I love this stuff and use it twice a day at least. I was worried it would leave an odd sheen on my deeper skin tone but it doesn’t! Love it.

  • TrishB

I must be doing something wrong. 🙁 I used this and was left with a sponge that had too much color to use over again ( i.e. color that was once on face was now on sponge). It removed my make up, what was left behind smudged before I could repowder, and my entired face was greasy within the hour. Had the same luck with the Jane Iredale version that I used years ago. How can one use a cream like product and not remove already set foundation/color? I’ve tried it with different sponges, stipling brushes, etc. It seems like a makeup remover. What am I doing wrong?

  • Sarah S.

Do you really smooth this on? I’m afraid that’ll smear my makeup all over. Can you pat this on instead?

    • the Muse

i use the sponge and smooth it on, patting might make it feel tacky and heavy?

  • Lors

I always put this in my QVC shopping cart and then remove it…time to put it back in the cart again. LOL

Do you use this instead of setting powder or on top of the setting powder?

  • jennie

Hello Ms Muse- I have this, I actually have three thanks to Mally and super selling ways, anyways I want to love this. I understand the product, I love how smooth it makes my skin feel but….I am not sure if I am applying it incorrectly or too heavily but it creates an ashy effect on my skin. I am a Chanel BR30. How many times do you reswipe the product? Also do you swipe it on your face or pat it on? Ooo, one more? – do you use the sponge or do you use a different applicator? Cheers! !

    • the Muse

lol jennie yeah she’s persuasive! I smooth it on with the sponge. I don’t pat, I swipe. I swipe one layer on. I didn’t have a heavier/ashy feel 🙁 so sorry it didn’t work for you 🙁

  • Amber

I absolutely love this stuff! I use it every day no matter what makeup I wear. I do have combo skin and don’t get breakouts from it that I can tell. I wore my makeup yesterday but was in a big hurry to leave with my hubby for the kids karate class. I looked in the mirror on the way there and wondered why my makeup didn’t look as good as usual. Then I realized I forgot to finish with this. Never again, definitely a lot better with than without!

  • madii

I live in Europe (Poland) so I can;t shop on QVC. Do you know where I can find this online? Maybe you could have more internationally friendly links? Thx.

    • the Muse

Sorry Madii, I’m not sure. Perhaps Mally’s site ships internationally. It’s difficult to have international friendly links because I shop for all my products in the US. It would take a heck of a lot of time to track down and research International sites that would ship to Europe or other parts of the world. I’m sorry but being a US blogger most of the links will include shops that ship within the US. I wish I had better info for you, apologies 🙁

  • Lipstickchick

I have the same Q as Lors above: I’d love to hear from anyone who uses this if they use in lieu of, or WITH, a setting powder. I can’t wear foundation/concealer without setting them, so it’d be great to know how to use this product if one also uses powder to set 🙂

    • the Muse

you want to apply powder first and proceed to follow up with this lipstickchick.

  • susan

This is just the same as Dr Feelgood – I cannot understand how Benefit allow Mallyto make such claims for innovation with this product that they have had on the market for years. To be honest I prefer Cliniques Pore Minimiser to the solid silicone.

  • Molly D

omg i just received this in the mail and i absolutely love it!! I really can’t believe how amazing this made my skin look 🙂 i didn’t know you could still use your powder so i didn’t this time but i will next time.i really love my nyx stay matte but not flat powder so im glad i can still use it!

  • Alli

Hi Muse ! I know this is a late response but I was searching for a review of the loose poreless powder and came upon this. I wonder if it is the same and if you have tried the Mally loose powerless powder? Thank you for the wonderful reviews, I love your site!

    • the Muse

I haven’t tried the loose powerless powder alli sorry and this isn’t a powder, it’s silicone primer/finisher 🙂 so def not like a poreless powder! aw thank you very much!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Essy

Hi Muse, a friend gave me this for Christmas and I don’t usually wear make-up. I searched for the reviews and stumbled upon yours. You have very nice review and I’m very eager to use this, my question is can you apply this directly to your face without any make-up on? Thanks!

    • the Muse

you can do it over your face without makeup or use it on top of makeup. hope this helps 🙂

    • Littlecreek

Hi Essy! I use this with out makeup as a way to fake looking like I put powder on. It’ll give a softer look to your skin like your wearing powder and helps keep oil from poppin up making you look all shiny. If oil does pop up a quick dab with a paper towel and you’re back to matte. Throw on a cheek stain beforehand and it really sells the “sure I put makeup on today” effect.
