L’Oreal Colour Riche Caresse Sticks Nude Ingenue Review & Swatches

L’Oreal is set to launch Colour Riche Caresse Sticks shortly here in the US. These hit the UK market with raving success a few short months ago and I was delighted that we’d be seeing them so early. Typically anything released in Britain gets to our side of the pond within a season or two but lately product launches are very quick to come on over and for that I’m extra grateful.

Although L’Oreal Colour Riche Caresse Sticks are rumored to arrive here in June I already have a shade that I picked up online.

I blame Revlon Lip Butters for the hype stirring up for the launch of Caresse Sticks. I think a ton of people thought the Revlon Lip Butters were a smashing success, myself included, so anything in the realms of this type of product get makeup lovers quite excited.

Here’s a brief review of L’Oreal Colour Riche Caresse Sticks but keep in mind that I’ll be doing a follow up review when they officially launch here in the US as I’d like to try a few more shades before having my final word on these.

Quite a few reader’s of Musings expressed their dislike of Revlon Lip Butters because they felt the formula was too pigmented and heavy. In this case, I’d say that L’Oreal Colour Riche Caresse Sticks will absolutely delight you.

The formula is nothing like Revlon’s version in the fact that these are lighter, glossier, and less balm like in texture. So comparing the two is near impossible as each has a completely different wear and feel.

For me, Caresse Sticks have a soft, easy glide on lips with a subtle glossy finish. The one shade I did try, Nude Ingenue, had a sheerer, touch of tint color pay off that enhanced the look of my lips without being overly pigmented. The formula is lightweight and comfortable but not terribly moisturizing but not drying either so it doesn’t sit unnaturally a top lips and even drier lips will find it wears fairly well without looking cakey or flaky. Colour Riche Balm has better moisturizing properties but far less pigment than Colour Riche Caresse Sticks, so you’ll find that this formula combines the lovely hydrating factor of Riche Balm with a better color pay off. As I said they aren’t terribly moisturizing but they have enough hydration to keep you happy through the wear without sucking moisture from your lips.

Overall, so far, Colour Riche Caresse Sticks are looking good but I admit the color I choose sucked some of the joy out of the product for me as it was a terribly unflattering shade of nude. I’m looking forward to seeing more colors and re-looking at these when they finally launch here in the US.

I think products like Colour Riche Caresse Sticks are testimony of how far drugstore brands have come in terms of quality! Hopefully they keep on this path.

    I picked up a couple of these from Target earlier this week. I like them better than the L’Oreal Balm. I need to get my hands on that violet color.

    I was so interested in these that I ordered them online too, in Dating Coral and Aphrodite Scarlet. They definitely feel more moisturising than the Revlon lip butters (but also a bit greasy), but pack way less pigmentation, which was an issue for me with some of the lip butters. I find the Caresse lipsticks semi-sheer, which works really well for days when I don’t really want a super-bold lip.

    I am in love with these! I loooovvveee my lip butters as well, but these are such a nice light lipstick. They don’t stay glossy, but they do last after the gloss wears off. The feel of these change as you wear them and you forget that you have anything on your lips but you look in the mirror and it’s still there! These are not balmy at all! These are light to medium coverage lipsticks, the majority of the wear time they are a satin finish. This comes off when you eat but stats really well the rest of the time. I have 3 of these that I purchased at target 🙂

        No problem! It’s so hard to find these and I think theres a big misconception of these being a tinted lip balm instead of a light lipstick. I love your reviews and swatches!!

          aw thanks claire! I’m a crappy photographer so I get excited when someone says my swatches are good ;-D yeah, plus I think people are trying to compare them to revlon’s lip butter and you can’t do that, they are utterly different!

            Do these also remind you of MAC slimshines??? (may they rest in lipstick heaven!)and also Benfit silky finish lipstick?? I can’t put my finger on which one is more similar!

            neither claire. they lack the pigment of mac or benefit’s version and those are heavier as well in texture/formula.

    These sound really nice! I don’t know if I will be running around all the drugstores/Targets in my area to find them, but if I see them and the price is right then I’d like to pick one or 2 up to try…I really like this sort of lipstick 🙂

    Ohh I really hope these work out for me. I loved how the balms looked but I did wish they were more tinted and they dried my lips horribly anyway. Crossing my fingers that these won’t make me peel!

    Love these Caresse lipsticks if that is what you call them as they are more a “stain and gloss”. Ours in England are called Rouge Caresse and the same as yours.
    I’m not a lipstick wearer but got these as they are perfect for me. I wear quite strong eye makeup so have to go easy on the lips for the everyday look.
    Normally lipsticks dry my lips so much but these don’t at all. Love them !

    I agree, drugstore makeuphas really stepped up!I wear alot of Loreal, as a matter of fact, I am addicted to their False Fiber mascara, it’s better than Benefit Bad Gal in my opinion!
