L’Oreal Revitalift Repair 10 BB Cream Review & Swatches

I wasn’t so sure about L’Oreal Revitalift Repair 10 BB Cream considering my foray with LOreal Nude Magique BB Cream didn’t exactly turn into a great hooray.

So far, drugstore BB Creams aren’t exactly what you’d expect from a traditional Asian BB Cream but hey, props for trying guys.

L’Oreal Revitalift Repair 10 BB Cream was released in the UK recently so I decided to jump in and see what I thought.

L’Oreal Revitalift Repair 10 BB Cream is…interesting.

This formula supposedly targets the ten signs of aging and leaves skin with a silky, smooth feel. An advanced “pigment complex” gives skin a radiant, natural finish. According to L’Oreal the formula contains both Pro-Retinol, an anti-wrinkle active and Pro-Firmyl, boosts skin’s natural firmers.

Benefits:

  • Wrinkles appear smoother
  • Skin feels firmer
  • Covers imperfections
  • Enhances skintone
  • Skin surface appears even
  • Skin feels smoother
  • Illuminates complexion
  • Hydrates for 24 hours
  • Covers age spots
  • Protects against UV

They actually have a formula that successfully accomplishes several of the benefits above but not all ten mind you.

The problem here? It’s a glorified tinted moisturizer. If you can put aside the fact that coverage is super sheer you might be willing to get on board with it.

I liked it however, it isn’t a BB Cream in the traditional sense of the word since it contains a rather low SPF of 20 and secondly, the coverage is lacking. Most Asian BB Creams are heavily pigmented and offer full coverage. This is more of a tinted moisturizer in coverage but the good news is it does give skin a more flawless finish.

The formula is a super rich, creamy base. It’s beautiful to say the lease and quite resembles and rivals any good Asian BB Cream in terms of texture. It’s very hydrating, absorbs easily, and has a gorgeous smooth finish on skin. I can’t rave it enough for drier skin types however oily skin might think it’s a little too moisturizing. However, it doesn’t have an oily or greasy finish and it absorbs fully so you’re left with softer skin and a lighter coverage so you might just feel comfortable with it on a more oily skin type.

Skin does indeed feel firm or more “bouncy” to the touch after application. It really enhances my own tone and makes it less dull and more healthy with a natural glow (not a sparkly glow). The coverage is super sheer so it won’t hide acne scarring, dark spots, or any major issues but it will however even out skin tone and create a more uniformed, flawless finish. Coverage is weightless and very natural. The hydrating effect is long lasting so my skin feels moisturized through the wear time and never dry or dehydrated. Wear time will vary but I can get about five hours in before I see some minor fading, a little powder aids it to wear longer for me at around seven hours. I’m relieved it doesn’t oxidize or fade away super quickly!

What it doesn’t do is cover imperfections, dark spots, acne scarring, etc…it doesn’t offer the best protection in the world either as it only contains an SPF 20. Supposedly it treats finer lines and wrinkles but I have neither on my face, I can only hope it prevents them as well.

Overall, L’Oreal has captured the essence of a BB Cream with L’Oreal Revitalift Repair 10. The formula and texture are definitely more of a traditional BB Cream. The only thing missing here is coverage and sun protection. A higher SPF and more coverage would make it worthy of the BB Cream title.

I must say, I’m giving this one a pass. It deserves a Muse Approval.

I loved it.

If you enjoy BB Creams but always wanted one that was a bit sheerer. Maybe something for a more natural look, I think you’ll enjoy L’Oreal Revitalift Repair 10 BB Cream. It creates a smooth, hydrated, natural finish on my face that eases dullness and that’s exactly what I desire in my base products.

Gorgeous stuff and well worth a try out.

I had a friend pick this up for me in London but I’ve seen it on Evil-bay for fairly reasonable prices. It comes in two shade selections.

With LOreal Nude Magique BB Cream launching shortly in the US I have hopes we’ll also see L’Oreal Revitalift Repair 10 BB Cream as well.

Gorgeous stuff.

Not a true BB Cream but VERY close.

Tried it?

Do share!

I purchased this item.

Meh definitely not gonna be light enough for me 🙁 I’m waiting for Marcelle to come out with a lighter shade of their bb cream, they just came out with a darker one so a lighter one can’t be too far off.

    • Stellar

Actually there has been word that they are coming out with a new BB Cream as well as Annabelle =)

      • Christina

Ok thanks; just wondering if there was a side of the box you didn’t post a pic of that might have that info 🙂 Bummer…doesn’t look like there are any sunscreens based on the ingredient list

        • the Muse

that’s about it christina sorry. box says spf 20 that’s all not the active ingredients for the sunscreen though!

  • Melissa

Thanks for this review. Count me interested. I’ll start saving L’oreal coupons and watching CVS.

i don’t think bb cream necessarily has to have high spf. i’ve had different bb cream with varying spf strength. the mushroom bb cream from skinfood has no spf at all i believe. most bb cream do have very good coverage though.

  • Grace

Aww this sounds great, I would totally get it if it had more coverage 🙁 But getting there! I still remember some of the earlier Western BB Creams like Boscia’s and Garnier’s. Those were absolutely horrifying…some of the worst base makeup I have ever used haha.

  • Kim

ahhhh, parabens! Parabens get no love from me. Too bad for that, it sounds like it would have worked well for me.

I reviewed this cream a while ago and didn’t like the heavy scent at all. Although I am not supposed to wear this cream because of an allergy, I tried it and had to remove it after one hour. My skin reacted immediately and started “burning”.

Nevertheless I agree that it may be a nice option for those without allergies against phenoxyethanol, perfumes etc.

    • Therese

I have only used this cream once and my face is burning and is so painful. I have always considered my skin to be normal. I would like to know why this has occurred and I am hoping it will get better. This is my third day of pain.

Hi muse! Was wondering maybe you’ve tried the olay touch of foundation before? How does it
Compare if you’ve tried that one as well? I’m nc 20-25 would it be too dark you reckon?

      • Dawn

It’s okay 🙂 Do you think it might be too dark for nc-20-25… Its released here in Australia but none of the store’s got any testers yet but I really wanna try but am afraid it’ll be too dark for me.. what do you reckon? I normally pull off the lighter shade in traditional korean bb cream 🙂

        • the Muse

i’m not really great with mac shades dawn but it might be too dark for nc20-25.

  • Tiffany Martin

This formula does look terrific! I am a little saddened that the coverage is so light, but I support the effort and I hope that seeing one step in the right direction will lead other companies to improve their “bb” formulas.

  • Zoe

I’ve tired a couple of these “BB” creams and I have yet to find one that works as well as the advertising claims. But I was so disappointed with this product. It doesn’t provide any coverage, its heavily perfumed which smells ok I guess but really anything going on your face shouldn’t be as they can be irritating. And I noticed that when I had a drink of water it went white where the water touched it at the corner of my mouth so that’s annoying. All in all didn’t think much of it. Have the used the bottle I bought only twice and I wouldn’t use it again. I much preferred the Nude Magique formula, though not perfect its got better coverage (though only a 12 SPF which was why I bought the Revitalift).

I’ve now left the world of BB and moved on to mineral foundation powder. Just bought a new one and I’m really excited about it. Its organic and has no nasties in it –

    • Tiffany Martin

You should consider trying BB creams from Asian brands, it’s a world of difference. Missha, Etude House, Holika Holika, and Skinfood all make affordable BB’s. I’d read some reviews and try a few out before giving up ^_^

  • christi

I agree with Tiffany, u should def try Asian bb creams b4 giving up on them Zoe, these American versions are NOT true bb creams!! I like Missha perfect cover and I am in the process of trying more!

  • Michelle

I have bought the Loreal revitalift repair BB in medium and I love it. It gves me good coverage
