Lunasol Glowing Powder Cheeks EX03 Review & Swatches
Although I reviewed and kinda sorta trashed the Lunasol Glowing Powder Cheeks Blush in a past post I was terribly tempted by the limited edition EX03 shade that was released with the Lunasol Summer 2012 Collection.
This shade combines a pretty orange and a peachy pink in one powder that can be used together or separately.
Take a look!
Lunasol Glowing Powder Cheeks comes in a cute Benefit Box of Powder style packaging with a brush applicator for application. Unlike Benefit’s version the packaging is a little less sturdy than Benefit’s but remains travel friendly thanks to a fabric covered rubber band that wraps around the box to keep it sealed shut. Unlike Benefit’s rougher bristled brush this comes with a softer brush that’s a bit on the smaller side but still fits the contour of cheeks nicely for application on the go although I prefer my own brush for the best application results.
As I mentioned in my original review I think at this price point the blush is a bit disappointing due to the sheerness of it. The blush formula is a soft, silky formula with a sheerer color pay off that builds easily. I like that I can’t over do this blush no matter how much I apply however, I do think at 3,500 yen one would expect a bit more pigmentation.
The color selection is gorgeous to say the least but I find the colors apply the same no matter if they are combined or separately used. It gives me cheeks a subtle hint of peachiness that runs on the cooler side. I felt like it looked a lot like Pure Coral, the shade I originally indulged in, so I was a bit disappointed in this aspect.
I also feel like the “Glowing Powder” puts the product in a poor light as you think you’ll be getting a more radiant, glowy finish but in reality I’m not seeing that finish factor in after application although I will say it does look very healthy and natural on my face.
3,500 yen for 6g of powder is a bit much since I feel like this lacks Lunasols original formula.
3,500 yen translates terribly to USD at the moment so youre look at nearly $44. For that price you can get almost twice the product if you purchase Benefit Coralista at $28 and youll benefit from the gorgeous golden peach glow you desired which Lunasol promises but doesnt deliver on.
Overall, I give it props for folks like me that have a heavier hand because truly it creates the perfect finish no matter how much you use. It’s very natural, healthy, and perfect and applies foolproof with effortless application. However, for me I get a little disappointed at the lack of glow and the pigmentation here. Injecting both into the formula would get a bigger rave from me.
