Rimmel Volume Flash ScandalEyes Mascara Review

Rimmel Volume Flash Scandal Eyes Mascara is a newly launched volumizing mascara for Summer 2012. I have a decent relationship with Rimmel mascara so I was terribly curious about this as I’m always on the hunt for fatter, juicer lashes.

Perhaps Flash ScandalEyes Mascara would be my new BFF for longer, fatter lashes yes?

No.

With a name like Volume Flash Scandal Eyes one does get excited. Jeepers sounds so terribly exciting!

With a large, bushier brush in a more traditional design I really had hopes for this one but outside of lengthening I really didn’t see a ton of volume from this mascara.

Formula proves very lightweight and doesn’t have a stiff, crunchy texture or finish after application. The brush is overly large but still manages to apply without any “poke” your eye accidents. I liked the brush a lot as it gets back to more traditional mascara brushes versus all the new plastic bristles ones they keep trying to sway us with. It also applies quite well and I’m not left with any clumps or a spidery lash finish. It seems to hold well in humidity without it running or fading and removes fairly quickly!

It does a fair job of making my lashes longer but in regards to volume I really see absolutely no results here. It doesn’t surprise me overly much as this brush seems like a good idea for volume in some aspects but in theory it just doesn’t do the trick.

Overall, Rimmel Volume Flash ScandalEyes Mascara is a sincere disappointment as you can see from my before and after pictures. Length yes? Volume absolutely not.

Oh well!

This sounds like it would be ideal for someone like me where I can’t use heavier formulas because it’ll make my eyelashes droop!

I picked it up, but haven’t tried it yet. I love the idea of the brush but I am sad about the lack of volume.

I loved this mascara! The trick is to brush your lashes through multiple times. I loved the big brush and made my lashes super big & thick. I actually am thinking about going back to it after using Rimmel’s The Max Volume Falsh Mascara, which was my favorite before this one.

I tried this too, had high hopes because I’ve liked other mascaras by them, but I was left disappointed! I felt like the formula was a.) too wet- took forever to dry and b.) it did nothing for volume! My latest mascara love is Too Faced Lashgasm, so great!

Nearly bought this a few times at Target because of the bright orange packing and because I’ve always loved their other mascara, the Accelerator one. Glad I never succumbed and bought it now!

What I need most is volume and definition 🙁

    Thanks for the review!

I had a $1 off coupon for this, so I decided to buy it. When I first picked it up in the store, I didn’t realize how humongous the packaging was and when I opened it later on, I was surprised by huge the brush was and I became excited to see the results from testing it out. Sadly, I was disappointed. I hardly noticed much difference and I did apply a few coats, but I’ve gotten quicker and better results with other mascaras. Maybe I’ll just try using a different brush and experiment with it for a while.

I agree that you have to swipe it through your lashes several times to get it to build volume. I just did a review for this today, and I have before and after pics for how I apply it, if you’re interested. 🙂
