Sephora Moonshadow Baked Palette In the Heat Review & Swatches
Sephora Moonshadow Baked Palette possibly single handedly changed my mind about Sephora make up. This was such a great palette full of lovely natural, nude shades of color.
I’m typically not a fan of Sephora’s house brand but truly the Moonshadow Palette is a mind changing experience particularly if you love baked shadow formulas.
For Summer 2012 Sephora has released a new color variation of the palette entitled In the Heat which I quickly snapped up.
Take a look!
Sephora Moonshadow Baked Palette in In the Heat is a selection ten of glittery baked shades of eyeshadow tucked into a rectangle style palette with a full size mirror and shadows that measure a little bigger than a quarter each.
The shadows have a smooth, baked finish much like MAC Mineralized Eyeshadows with a fair amount of shimmer in the mix but not nearly as much as some of the MAC ones I’ve run across. You can use these wet or dry. I had very minimal fall out using them dry and felt using them wet offered the more intense finish however, I’m not a fan of messing up my shadows by dipping a wet brush into them so I tend to stick to dry application.
These blend fairly easily with a silky, medium color pay off. I wouldn’t say they are incredibly pigmented but they have enough of a color pay off to keep many a shadow fan happy. I do find pairing shades and contrasting with them a little difficult but this is the norm with a baked shadow formula. They go a little muddy when combined but as I mentioned this is fairly typical with a baked formula.
I find a sponge applicator produces the best results as it packs color on beautifully with very little fall out however, a bushier brush you’ll notice some fall out and find that color doesn’t have as vibrant a finish so when possible use a sponge to apply.
Formula was a little inconsistent in my first Moonshadow Palette but I find the In the Heat shades all performed very well.
The palette is a range of nude shades paired up with a few more vibrant colors such as an aqua and a bright buttery yellow. I did sadly feel like some of the shades we’re very similiar to the ones I already have in my original palette so you MIGHT second guess a purchase if you already have the In the Nude variation of this palette.
Sephora Moonshadow Baked Palette In the Heat has a nice range of natural shades paired up with some vibrancy for Summer. I loved the palette as much as I did the original I purchased. It’s just a great formula overall and a perfect selection of shades for those who love a baked formula.
I’m Muse Approving the formula here however, not the shade selection since it’s a little too similiar to In the Nude to warrant a purchase. I just felt the colors were fairly the same here with very minor differences.
If you haven’t already purchased or tried the Moonshadow Baked Palette I’d suggest checking out In the Heat as it has a nice range of colors with a great formula.
Great job Sephora. You’ve been keeping me more than happy lately with some of your releases.
