Skin Food Good Afternoon Rose Lemon Tea BB Cream Review & Swatches

Skin Food Good Afternoon
Rose Lemon Tea BB Cream is one of several afternoon tea infused BB Cream formulas that the brand released.

Today I’ll be reviewing the Rose Lemon Tea version.

Take a peek!

These are a tiny 1 oz size tube of BB Cream that come packaged in a cute cardboard box. Each formula is supposedly infused with skin nourishing tea ingredients but chalk it up as a marketing technique or at least that’s how I feel about the product.

By BB Cream standards I think this is a disappointing formula as it has a lower SPF and sheerer finish.

The Rose Lemon Tea formulation is a rose, lemony scented cream that kinda reminds me of the scent that Skin Food uses in their Fresh Juice Skincare Collection. It’s part floral, part freshness, and a good deal of lemon citrus notes. It’s very pleasant but sensitive skin users might find it irritating.

The formula on this reminds me of Dr Jart’s Water Fuse BB Cream as it has a very odd texture that appears separated. You’ll want to shake this up a fair bit prior to use as I feel like the pigment becomes separated from the water base easily. So a few shakes prior to squeezing product from the tube will keep things “together” for lack of a better word. Don’t worry about the separation, this is merely how the formula is and how it works as it’s the type of BB Cream that transforms into a water-like texture when it hits skin and absorbs easily.

It’s a very sheer finish but enough pigment is there so you end up with a fresher more even look to skin. At first I didn’t love it because I expect considerably more coverage from BB Cream but after trying it for several days it slowly grew on me and before you knew it I was using it daily.

I don’t love Dr Jart’s version of this style formula however, Skin Food’s somehow works for me. The watery feel and texture is very refreshing on my skin and I’m left with a nice, natural glow after use so my skin looks smoother, softer, and healthier.

Overall, I enjoyed this. I’d like to Muse Approve it for purchase but I feel like many people won’t enjoy the unusual formulation that isn’t quite what’s expected of a BB Cream. The hydrating finish, lovely glow it lends my face, and the way it eases dullness are all key points I loved about it. The aromatic lemony scent was charming as well! I don’t love the smaller size but after carefully musings over this I realized I have SO many tubes of BB Cream that they’ll go off before I can use all of them up due to the pigmentation of each and the fact I only use a little as it goes a long, long way. So I now kinda appreciate a 1 oz sheerer formula like this.

Skin Food did well here.

Worth checking out for BB Cream virgins who are a little scared of full on coverage that BB Cream offers.

I got mine directly from Korea however, a good deal of sellers including Imomoko.com carry this.

Loves it!

I purchased this item.

I just ordered the Apple&Cinnamon brightening version on Amazon for $12.

  • Amiee

Looks interesting! I have just started using BB creams and have only tried on Asian brand and one American brand. Excited to try more!

  • Kimber

Ok – you did it! You have ignited my desire to try REAL bb creams! Your skin always looks so lovely in your photos this must be the secret right? 🙂 Thanks for another great review… now where did I put my credit card?

    • the Muse

I like to think so kimber and thank YOU! very nice compliment ;-D lol! just email me it, I’ll take good care of it for you ;D

  • Alanna

Pardon me if I missed it (got waxed today and i swear I’m still pain-addled ;_; ) but which shade is swatched?
Also did you get any of the others? Do they have the same separated formula? I’ve been wanting to order one so I am very curious 😀

    • the Muse

oh jeepers sorry alanna that’s shade 2 girl! i did, review upcoming on them shortly ;-D i haven’t tested yet!

      • Alanna

hooraaaaay so shade 1 should work for me ^_^ i can’t wait to see the others, i want like all of them just because of the names and packaging lol

  • Melissa

I got all of these for a very reasonable $5.99 each from a favorite ebay seller that I’ve ordered from many times before. They seem very very similar in formula. Maybe I missed something? I tend to agree its a marketing and I fell for it hard. 🙂 At least they are small tubes. I’m still debating on making the 5 hour drive to California to go to a skinfood store LOL but honestly with the Lush makeup line coming out in a few weeks I won’t have the budget for it.

    • the Muse

did you have the separation issues Melissa? me too as I love tea ;-D so I was sold on them! omg please don’t say lush makeup lol!

      • Melissa

hey – sorry for the delay! Major separation issues! EW. After the 2nd one I figured to shake first but jump up and down and do a jig kind of shaking not just a quick slug.

        • the Muse

it’s still fairly a cool product though Melissa…It’s kinda growing on me ;D!

  • savannah

Muse, what Asian BB cream would you recommend for someone who is tan as I am? the Garnier BB cream in medium to dark works perfectly for me or sand tinted moisturizer by laura mercier. All the Asian BB creams make my skin look gray.

  • Grace

I’m gonna skip this because I need at least medium coverage but it sounds amazing for summer! Will probably try this eventually, when my skin gets a little better 🙂

  • Erin

    Muse
You have such beautiful skin. Will you consider a post on your skin care routine
In the future. No wrinkles, blemishes, or anything! Some of us are just lucky to be born beautiful!

    • the Muse

aw thanks erin! that’s such a great compliment! 🙂 hardly beautiful though!!!! *hugs* I actually did a post a while ago under Lush about what I use daily but it’s def changed a bit. I’ll consider a future post with my skincare favs ;-D right now it’s philosophy miracle worker all the way!

  • Tiffany Martin

I’m not afraid of a weird texture, and I love the idea of the tea scents, but I need more coverage.

Thanks for the review, muse (:

  • skinnymocha

Thank you for the review~ I think I’ll skip over this one since I really need the SPF! (Considering all the AHA’s I use in the evening)

Muse, do you have any recommendations for an NC30-35? I’m using Missha’s Perfect Cover #23 at the moment (I’m guessing shades #27 and #31 would suit me better) but I sort of want to branch out and dabble with other brands…

  • Diana

WHERE do you purchase korean bb creams?! I don’t like the american bb creams. I need to know 🙂

  • Melody

I really appreciate this review. I’ve never tried BB creams, but really would like to. I’ve been researching the best one for me. I’m a huge rose and lemon fan so this one caught my eye. I read that this cream has a tightening effect (which is one of the things I’m looking for in a BB cream) but the second thing on my list is brightening. Do you know of this cream offers the brightening effect as well?

  • jazmin

i really want to try bb creams i always look online for reviews i heard of on makeupalley but theirs always mixed reviews and sometimes i dont know where to get the product. Its pretty overwhelming to try to find the perfect bb cream for a good price and also i agree that there are many fakes on amazon where people try to get bb creams cheaper. so this might sound much but do you have a suggestion for a bb cream for someone whos a beginner and combination acne prone skin who wants a fresh glowy not oily finish thats in a reasonable price its just that im soooo confused????

  • Sulyn

Do Skinfood bb creams contain any silicones or alcohols? Do you have any recommendations for silicone free bb creams that also work?

  • Vee

Hello Muse! Currently eyeing bb cream, have no idea which one to choose to be my very first bb cream 😀 I have combination skin, tend to be oily on t-zone, uneven tone, dark circles, several acne scars and sun spots on the cheeks, approx NC 30. I need a bb cream that has medium coverage. I dont know which to choose among skinfood good afternoon apple cinnamon vs rose lemon vs aloe sun vs hot pink skin79. Haha, I know there are so many options :p can u help me? Many thanks before.
