About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Ooooh and eye cream sample! Let me go ahead and order mine today! If the foundation doesn’t work for me I can pass it on 🙂

    • the Muse

jen very curious about that, didn’t try it yet but can’t wait to, generous sample too!

  • Carrie

I already have this from pre-ordering and love it!! I can’t wait to get some info on future shipments!

  • Kim

I’m curious about the foundation too. I’m wondering if it will get more “likes” than the Amazonian clay foundation. If reviews are positive I may purchase.

  • diane

    LOVE this kit.
I have a video review on my youtube channel if you want to see it. I’m so much better at blabbing about stuff than taking pics and writing about it! LOL

The Lipsurgence is in a new sharpener package. The people at tarte said it’s because it is an exclusive “line shine” formula and that the regular loved lipsurgences will remain twist ups.

The Amazonian clay mascara is my holy grail mascara. so glad they put it in the kit!!

I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE PICS OF FUTURE SHIPMENTS!!!! you are always so good with providing us of that <3

    • the Muse

youtube.com/curlywavydiane <---d's youtube channel if you wanna watch the vid ;-D I can't wait to try it ;-D I just took photos so far haven't swatched it yet though! aw shucks go on now <3!

      • diane

aaww you are so sweet to post my channel like that! i didn’t want to post it because sometimes people post their channels and try to promote themselves on other boards and it just comes off rude so i’d never wanna do that on your blog myself! but i’m sure glad u did! LOL <3

        • the Muse

I’m not going to lie, I think it is very rude. It feels like coming into my house uninvited lol! ;-D but you’re a longtime reader and friend so I don’t mind in the least ;-D
embarrassed but I didn’t know you did videos doh!

          • diane

haha don’t be embarrassed! i don’t really promote myself all that much, i always feel i’d be annoying if i do. thanks for not minding! i figured because you asked our thoughts, my thoughts are right there haha 😉

i got a second set in tan. mixing the tan and medium work perfect for me- just like with amazonian clay foundations!

          • the Muse

I think that’s respectable though. you know people will come on here, never having commented before or interacted and proceed to slap a link in the comment box with “read my review”. golly! rude! lol! I haven’t tried the foundation yet, I’m dead curious ;-D just been busy with other goodies.

  • Courtney

I can’t wait to see the swatches of the foundation. I totally want this! Is it possible to order it without auto delivery? I’ve only ever ordered from QVC once so I’m not really familiar with how it all works. I need this though!

    • the Muse

sure courtney you can order as a one time shipment 😀

      • Courtney

Thanks! I’m totally ordering it once I see the foundation swatches. This looks awesome, what a great deal!

  • kimkats

I’m such a sucker for the auto ship beauty kits… I am eagerly awaiting swatches of the foundation. I really need those to figure what shade I am, esp. with tarte. The kit that came with the concealer a while back I got in medium, and medium is awfully light, imho. This “fair, medium, sortadark, reallydark, paperwhite” naming system tarte is using stinks…. SO can’t wait to see the swatches – looks like a nice kit!

Speaking of which, isn’t there an autoship from last March supposed to go out soon too?

    • Courtney

I agree with the foundation shades. I’ve always been the lightest shade in ever foundation I’ve ever used (probably at least 50 different kinds), but the fair in the amazonian clay foundation was way too light for me. I’m thinking that this might be the same, hence why I’m waiting for the swatches. I figure I’ll probably end up being a light.

  • beautybabbler

I got this kit in the mail the other day, and I just wanted to pass along the information that the fair in this new foundation is quite a bit darker than the fair in the Amazonian clay foundation. I’m a bit disappointed that the shades weren’t more consistent. The new foundation works for me now because I have a bit of summer color (I can’t really say I’m tan – LOL), but it’ll be too dark for me most of the year.

  • Suselew

Just a few comments on this kit from a combo skin pink-toned gal. The foundation in this kit in Fair is yellow-based. There are no neutral or cool-leaning foundation color choices in this kit. The Amazonian clay foundation in Ivory is perfect for me (not available on QVC). The MM foundation in this kit is also not a good mix with oily skin. On my t-zone, I was oily by noon. The Amazonian clay foundation lasts about 6-8 hours for me before I even think of blotting. The foundation in my circumstances was a big miss.

Love the eye cream and mascara. HATE the design of the LipSurgence. I’m ambivalent on the rollerball oil as I would prefer a pump. The brush choice makes no choice as it’s natural hair when synthetic would have been a better choice with liquid foundation. And it sheds like mad!

The most recent item I have tried is the eye liner/crayon combo. Love the concept but the execution seems to be lacking. Both products are dry and do not spread easily over the lid especially if you are older and the lids are not perfectly smooth. They wear moderately well but using them was a chore. They are not the quality of the Amazonian clay products.

Overall, I may have to start skipping the QVC Tarte products. I am finding that they are compromised in design, color selection and quality compared to purchasing directly from Tarte.

    • Beth

I’m really glad I read your review. I have very oily skin(fair to light with cool undertones) and was debating about this kit based on the foundation. I love the Amazonian Clay foundation but thought I might like to try the MM. The second thing I really wanted in the kit was the brush as the brushes from recent kits have been fabulous. I’m thinking I might pass on this kit now. Thanks for your detailed review!

      • Suselew

I REALLY hate giving Tarte products bad reviews, but their kits on QVC have become major disappointments lately. I have so many of their products and love them. I am hoping that Jen or Maureen or anyone from Tarte reads this and change the products that go into the TSV kits.

    • Chels

Liked your review, good to know about the foundation and oily skin.

I know the Tarte’s color is purple, but seriously, every single set has purple eyeshadow in it. And I had to stop buying these sets because I now have a surplus of purple eyeshadows/liners that I don’t use…really a waste.

Plus, those rollerballs aren’t very sanitary….

  • Kristen

I want this!! I am loving Tarte foundations lately! Can’t wait to try this kit! Auto delivery is a must!

  • Joan

Received this collection and like it a lot. Haven’t used the foundation yet. Always a little skeptical to use a foundation for the first time, afraid of breakouts. I think I’m a little concerned about the maracuja oil in this foundation, but I will try it soon. I was surprised to find the little jar of eye cream in the kit. I’ve been using it and like it a lot. Looking forward to the information/images of the future collections.

  • Joannie

I tried this but sent it back. The foundation was too greasy for me and the brush, which I was really excited to try, shed all over my face. I have found eye sticks to be too sticky in the past (Mally) and I didn’t like the lip crayon, way too bright for me, so I really shouldn’t have ordered it in the first place! Too bad, as I have liked other Tarte kits in the past, does anyone remember the Tarte fragrance form 7 or 8 years ago, it had a nice blackberry scent. It was discontinued after a short while, Maureen if you read this, consider bringing this back!

  • Becca @ The Beauty Sample

That foundation looks like it will be pure radiant gorgeousness. Hope it works for oily skin too, though!

    • Suselew

Becca, as I stated above, it didn’t work for my combo skin. I’m saving the foundation for winter. The fair shade was also yellow-based so it was a miss for me all around. LOVE the Amazonian clay foundation, tho. Just not the foundation in this kit.

  • Karena

Hi Muse – Thanks so much for posting pics! I will look forward to your complete review. Hooray!!

    • the Muse

my pleasure karena sorry for the delayed reply, very behind on comments and such!

  • Joan

Love the sample eye cream that came with this collection. Any word, Muse, on when it will be available in a full size on QVC, Tarte and Sephora?

    • the Muse

no word yet Joan but enjoying it as well and eager for a full size ;D!

  • Lora

Hmm…I’m on teh QVC website now and there is no mention of the eye cream sample. Is it included or have they eliminated it from the kit?
