So excited for the swatches! I ordered too light (didn’t know that was possible for me since I’m like a ghost) in the Amazonian clay formula. This one totally intrigues me though. Hopefully it will be a winner!

When a new foundation is available all I want it’s the ingredients list! Kisses from Brazil!

    • Sara

Me too! Got mine, tried it out; then looked at the ingredients and saw several things that will make my skin freak out. Guess I will be returning or giving to a friend.

hi tamine, i got my kit last friday and here are the ingredients for the foundation from the brochure in the set. if you’re wondering about the brush, it’s made of natural hairs. i thought it was synthetic at first because of how soft it was but after comparing it with my other natural hair brushes and washing it, i can confirm that it’s definitely a natural haired brush.

active ingredients: avobenzone 3.0%, octinoxate 7.5%, octisalate 4.0%, oxybenzone 2.0% inactive ingredients: water, cyclopentasiloxane, cetyl peg/ppg-10/1 dimethicone, mica, butylene glycol, cyclohexasiloxane, ozokerite, vp/eicosene copolymer, silica, c12-15 alkyl benzoate, disteardimonium hectorite, phenoxyethnaol, benzotriazolyl dodecyl p-cresol, magnesium sulfate, caprylyl glycol, polyglyceryl-4 isostearate, hexyl laurate, bis-vinyl dimethicone/dimethicone copolymer, acrylates/polytrimethylsiloxymethacrylate copolymer, beeswax, potassium sorbate, glycereth-18 ethylhexanoate, polymethylsilsesquioxane, boron nitride, c18-21 alkane, polyisobutene, ethoxydiglycol, xanthan gum, barium sulfate, 1,2-hexanediol, polyhydroxystearic acid, glycerin, benzoic acid, glycereth-18, c30-45 alkyl cetearyl dimethicone crosspolymer, isododecane, caprylohydroxamic acid, aluminum dimyristate, triethoxycaprylylsilane, hydrolyzed vegetable protein, propylene carbonate, allantoin, disodium stearoyl glutamate, alumina, stearic acid, trehalose, gold, hexylene glycol, peat extract, palmitoyl hexapeptide-14, passiflora edulis seed oil, passiflora incarnata seed oil, sodium benzoate, sodium hyaluronate, titanium dioxide, iron oxides

Interesting. I could of sworn the ingredient slip in the box said the brush was made of man made materials. The bristles are a lot like my ELF flat top.

        • blue

interesting indeed…maybe they made different batches with different bristles? haha i hope not. but yeah, i’m damn sure mine is made of natural hairs. it clumps or blobs together the way human hair does when you wash it; synthetic ones don’t do that. have you washed yours yet Comrade Garlic?

i looked everywhere on the slip and it doesn’t mention that the brush is synthetic. it says “flawless finish bamboo foundation brush” but the bamboo part could just be referring to the handle. i have to admit i was disappointed with tarte about the brush. i really expected synthetic brushes from them.

          • Suselew

Liquid or cream foundations are best with synthetic brushes. But natural hair, especially goat, are cheaper than synthetic ones. Tarte needs to follow the example of I.T. Cosmetics who include the most spectacular synthetic brushes with their products. I have pretty much stopped buying Tarte brushes until they get rid of their natural haired ones. Come on, Tarte!

          • Comrade Garlic

I’ve washed it couple of times and haven’t noticed the clumping. But the brush is pretty bad. It sheds like a mofo and it smells. I wish they would leave the bushes out of these kits.

          • blue

@suselew: amen to that. i got that huge powder brush that was sold together with the Amazonian clay foundation and that’s synthetic & i love it. so i kinda assumed that the rest of the brushes in the tarte kits would be synthetic. sadly, not so. 🙁 how yellow is the fair shade? got a pic to it? i know Muse is gonna post up swatches soon but i’m itching to know so i can decide if i want to return or exchange the light shade i got.

@ comrade garlic: i guess clumping isn’t the right word to describe it but its the way all the bristles stick together when it’s wet. very similar to how our hair is when it’s wet. does that make sense? lol it was good at picking up powder products but i didnt even try it with the foundation in this set. i actually like getting brushes in the sets, provided that it’s synthetic and works well.

I got the lightest color in the QVC TSV and it is more yellow than I would like. I then remembered that I could not order Tarte foundation from QVC as they only carry a limited range of colors. I had to get the Amazonian clay foundation directly from Tarte as Ivory is the better shade for me.I t’s not a dealbreaker since I can color-correct with more pink-based setting powder. However, since the next kit in the fall will come with the same foundation I am cancelling my auto-delivery of the kit.

  • Majick

I’m still swimming in the amazonian clay foundation from before. I just went to a Stila Master Class and went a little nuts so I’m trying not to spend. I look forward to seeing swatcheds and hearing reviews.

First of all, the brush is crap! Whether its synthetic or natural, I prefer synthetic, it should work and not shed all over my face even after I’ve washed it twice! It sheds chunks, and long bristles. Eff that.

Now, about the foundation. I’ve been using it for a week and I’ve gotten so many compliments! It doesn’t make me break out either. I recall the Amazonian Clay foundation being introduced on QVC and then they released it at Ulta and Sephora in more shades. I hope they do that with the Maracuja Miracle foundation, because the light shade is slightly too light for me and has a yellow undertone, I’m light-medium with beige undertones. Overall, I love this foundation. I will keep my Auto-delivery.

have u tried using it with powder products instead? it really is a shame since it looks so nice and it’s a good shape too. natural ones just have a tendency to shed more, especially when used with liquids and creams. at least it is in my experience with them, but not so much with powder products. maybe you can try it with your powder products if you havent tossed it yet?

      • Amanda M

blue, I have not used it for powder, but I will give it a try to make use of it. Thank you for the suggestion. I’m a bit of a tarte brush junkie and I have a number of their brushes and I haven’t had this problem with their other brushes. It sheds in small clumps with glue. One of the reasons I got this kit was the brush, the most important reason for this kit really is the foundation, to not be able to use the brush that is intended for the foundation is a shame.

The brush has a ton!!! of sheding. I don’t like using it with the foundation, if i put the foundation on the back of my hand and dip the brush into it, it stays in a clump in the brush and the foundation is EXTREMELY fast drying…I would say for me this dries faster then revlon colorstay, and thats pretty fast(in my opinion). I tried this foundation with a sponge, and also didnt like that it was cakey.. I found the best way so far for me to apply it was with my hands like a moisturizer, I can be faster with my hands in applying it to my whole face as opposed to just sections at a time with the brush or sponge. If the foundation was a thinner consistency the brush would work fine, but hands works better for me(and I never say that). This foundation held up all day, and i live in Palm Springs where it’s regularly like 108 degrees and I had no problems with this staying good on me all day. Love the longevity, not 100% sure my skin loves it as much as I do though lol.

Any chance you’ll have those swatches posted soon? I bought this in “Light”, but it’s too dark for me. It’s definitely darker and more yellow than the Amazonian Clay foundation in “Light”, which is a pretty good color match for me. I’ve never seen “Fair” in a foundation before, but I wanted to see swatches of the light and fair next to each other so I can see if Fair might be a good match for me. Thanks!

    • the Muse

aida, seems like the shades run VERY dark imho! did you see the swatch post I did for all the shades? Hopefully you caught it. swatches on the way for the entire kit as well!
