Bobbi Brown Desert Twilight Eye Palette Review & Swatches
The new Bobbi Brown Desert Twilight Eye Palette ($60) contains eight shades of shadow and is newly launched with the Desert Twilight Fall Collection.
These eight shades are a cross of sultry nudes with a rosy mauve twist. The inspiration behind the colors is the end of the day, dusk and to some extent they do remind me of the end of a long, hot day, just after the sun dips down and hides away for the evening.
Take a look!
This comes in a brassy gold compact which is about the size of a credit card. Inside is a full size mirror, eight shadows, and a dual sided brush. I like the size as it’s perfectly travel friendly and sturdy enough that you aren’t worried about breaking anything.
You get the following shades:
- Eye Shadow in Navajo (creamy pinkish white), Cement (grey beige), Chocolate Mauve (black chocolate plum)
- Metallic Eye Shadow in Twilight Pink (pale nude pink), Twilight (pink bronze), Pink Dust (pink bronze mauve)
- Sparkle Eye Shadow in Dusk (silver heather pink), Water Color Pink (silver baby pink)
Water Color Pink, Pink Dusk, Twilight, Navajo
Chocolate Mauve, Dusk, Cement, Twilight Pink
I like the mix of finishes here as you get some metallic, some sparkle, and some matte shades which all combine rather beautifully to create a simple yet dramatic eye look with minimal effort or know how.
The formula here most definitely runs on the sheerer side particularly the sparkle finish eyeshadows however, they do build quite well. The Sparkle Shades are best used as an overcoat of sorts on top of the matte or metallic shades to add a touch of sparkle.
I was surprised I liked this so much as at a glance I wasn’t turned on by the shade selection. I think the colors are a tad odd as they have this mauve, dusky rose, taupe combination going on. Typically I don’t mind rose shades on my eyes but I tend to avoid taupe or mauve but this somehow works.
Don’t write it off completely if you swatch it on counter as it does swatch very sheer but colors build very well for more intensity.
Overall, the Bobbi Brown Desert Twilight Eye Palette is a selection of shades that older eyes will greatly appreciate. Although uneventful for those who prefer more vibrant shades, it’ll be very appealing for those who want a more professional subtle look on their eyes. This delivers an elegant eye look with a few strokes and very little know how which makes it foolproof to apply a dramatic eye look in minutes.
